In that case TJ's doom scenario is covered as well, since national supplies just about everything. :D
Seriously though, from a business point of view, I can totally understand where you're coming from Niall. But I also understand the other sentiments.

Buddah, OLe TJ's wants to be the prophet of doom. But that just gets people worried and talking. I think this is a good thing. It shows all round commitment to something that is good..Not a bad thing in my book!

Doom an gloom?

I'm tha life an soul - Mr Happy!

However, it is a serious point cos it does set a serious precedent.
You know how Governments suspend civil liberties and then say 'Don't worry, we'll only actually use our new powers on terrorists', and the Civil Liberties groups go up in arms, cos they KNOW what the potential for abuse is here.

Same thing here in my book, this new legislation is, in my opinion, a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and one that could come back to bite people on tha ass.

Follow my argument - Diablo and Zap both choose to pull out of Millennium next year cos they wanna support something else, or they choose to pour their sponsorship dollars into rec, or new fields, or TV marketing...then no Zap or Diablo teams can play Millennium. It's in tha rules.

OTT TJ,
You can be as hypothetical as you like but it aint gonna happen.

To put your mind at rest, if your Zap and Diablo scenario happened we would have to adapt or die...

WE have made a rule for NOW. A rule that everyone can follow. There is commitment from both parties for a season. We have to go back to the drawing board at the end of each season and decide on our future and how best to protect every bodies interests. Players, Sponsors and Promoters.

Come on then give me a better solution to the problem which looks after everybodies interests. I'm open to suggestions.

:)

To my knowledge

This rule has been put in place to deal with one specific company, correct?

Now are you telling me that the Millennium board, with its power, influence and friends - some of whom are in tha media and quite influential - could not arrange for that company to not act that way again???

Cos you got some mighty powerful and influential sponsors there...

Maybe I am being a lil paranoid, it happens, but I still think it's a sledgehammer approach worthy of Robo himself...

One specific company caused a bit of a storm in teacup..

If we accepted their actions it could have left it wide open for others to follow.
Sponsors would then pull from the series or "trade from the car park" with no benefit to anyone.

1/ Players would have to pay more to subsidize the loss of revenue from the sponsors.

2/ Sponsors would be paying to sponsor the event whilst similar companies got the same benefits without spending a bean.

3/ Euro Promoters would lose even more money! ;) Because less teams could afford to play.

So at this moment in time old chap I still do not see a better solution. Who do we affect negatively with this action other than freeloaders?

Look at the issue we have now.

1. Companys that support the Millenium series are not happy with the fact that other companys that dont help or pay to attend the millenium series is able to sell/Market there stuff.

2. If you want to use the Millenium series as a channel for marketing your products you should support it like the rest of the companys.

3. We will not be able to put up a event without the sponsors.

So please give us a better idea what to do and we will do it.
As it is now this is the best we could think off.

Ok, I am being really dense and will most definately go "doh!" but what is this other company please? as I can't immediately see one missing from the list of sponsors.

If you don't want to post it, please e-mail me.
