I think Steve upset enough people last year that it was unlikely that he would be asked back.

Good to see Scutty on board though, and the Millennium Series looks like it may have a better year this year.

Moi? Upset someone? Who did I upset? Certain promoters as well as many players from all different divisions and nationalities told me they thought the results were outstanding (albeit far from perfect and thanks to some great pro refs).

I guess one or two people getting upset is a higher business priority than the delivery of good results.

Keep in mind that I was asked to do the impossible: look after the collective interest of the Series (the reffing and X Ball setup) vis-à-vis the individual interests of certain promoters. Of course some toes are going to be stepped on and some peeps irritated. I discussed this with every promoter before every event and tried to be diplomatic and helpful. I obviously failed.

Anyway, I wish them luck and Ulrich Stähr has the right ideas and attitude. Let's see what he looks like after he's gone through the meat grinder.

Steve has had several clashes with people on these boards, but nothing out of the ordinary. He's put forward some good ideas, as well as some idealistic ones, which in essence were good ones.

I've seen Steve in action around several promoters, and I know that some did get annoyed with him, but only because he tried to do his job as good as possible with limited means. Obviously he would be asking for a lot.
If that's the reason they decided to not continue with Steve, despite his achievements, which I might add he achieved with very limited means, I have very little hope as far as the sense of the MS is concerned. It seems they are opting for the way of the least resistance...

Steve not doing what he does best is very much the MS miss, and as such the players' miss.

'in ya face baby!'
your joking...........

Steve i thought your enthusiasm and attention to detail, with the resources you had last season was excellent.

i personally am disppointed that Steve is not part of this seasons setup, but i am sure he wont lose any sleep over the lack of stress! so what if he "stood on a few toes" i do that every day of my life, it makes things happen quicker, smoother and more efficiently generally!

path of least resistance...........mmmmmm......sounds to familiar!;)

Likewise - from the paying customer's point of view (look at me in cloud cuckoo land thinking we're the ones that matter) Steve did an excellent job last year. He's certainly left some big boots for Ulrich to fill, let's hope he can do so without making too many enemies along the way :)
