So mini rant time.

Paint issues aside, which did suck ass this morning for two games until it warmed up.

Let's talk timing of games.

So it's my understanding, that two sets of teams play basically at the same time.
I'm ok with that, the part I'm not happy with is, if the game opposite of us lasted 30 seconds and some did. It was an immediate 30 second call to get on the field. So we were off the field for 30 seconds and had to go right back on. We didn't get the 2 minute buffer.

We had a team of 6 crewing for us, and it was almost impossible to keep up with 4 matches and having to switch pits. We'd play two matches then switch pits , and after each point you'd switch sides. So our pod guys are sprinting around for 25 seconds and then trying to get off. I saw pod guys hiding behind the start bunker half the time.

The OD1 field was 80 minutes a head of schedule. They could have given some more 5 minute breaks between games. We had 45 minutes between games on paper, in reality? About 7.

To do that to OD3 teams who are supposed to be using that division to break into playing tourney ball, is messed up. Hell it's messed up to any team.

Tomorrow we have back to back matches with a pit change in between, so 2-3 points, switch pits (about 75 feet plus gear and cases with full pods) and immediately play another 2-3 points.

When we said something to the refs, who were super cool, most were from the DPL. We were told it's an automated system and they can't change it. Which I know there was a lady with a laptop mashing the next point button so that seems...off to me.

If we didn't have a full team crewing for us, and vice versa we'd have been totally screwed. We had 60+ pods filled with paint and still went through that and had to scramble to re-pod because of the compressed schedule.

When it's that bad, it makes it not fun for a lot of teams and players.

Anyone else have that on their fields? Is that normal in CPPS? Or other race to X events youve been to?

Just curious if I'm going nuts or not.

That doesn't sound helpful!

I've only played Race2 with two games running at once, but if one game was a quick 30 second point then you would only get 1 minute between points. You just have to hope they slow it down between time being called and the player being called clean to give you a bit more time. You would get the full 2 minutes if one game finished before another though (i.e. one game was 2-0 while the other ran to 2-1). Your designated coach is usually able to call one timeout per game to get a 1 minute extension - http://www.millennium-series.com/downloads/race-to-format-millennium-series-2015.pdf

The only thing I can suggest to help, (if you're not doing it already!) as soon as someone is hit they get straight off the field, wiped down, air and podded up then help get the next player ready.

@Spikerz, it's a tough one.

As a former PSP, MS & CPPS ref, I'm happy when we have quick points as this means a quicker finish for us. Long points mean long-ass days and late finishes. And long points usually mean boring games.

But for players, it's a scramble to get on & off the field.

For what it's worth, IIve always been of the view that any Race team should run two lines of five.

This happened to us at Chantilly in OD2. We were lucky though, when we turned up for our final prelim game on Sunday an hour early and were told they'd been calling for us for over an hour, they actually waited as we weren't the only team who wasn't there. To be fair, @MattC did warn me about this so I think it's pretty common in Mills. You just need to check on the field every half hour or so to see how it's progressing.

At London, we got through to Sunday club and had to run between fields to play the quarter finals. We were told we had 5 mins to get to the next field after just winning the Octa? finals (or whatever it's called) in overtime. Again, to be fair the refs were quite understanding and just told us to be as quick as possible. So yeah, I think it's just the way it is in Mills!

So some terrible news.

A 25 year old player from one of the local teams died last night of a heart attack at his hotel.

Just awful.
