Millennium/NPPL clash

So, word is that if a Champs League team misses an event they immediately forfeit their spot, and as a result XSV, Nexus and Joy may be playing complete teams of ringers in tha first event in order to keep their spots as they will be playing Huntington Beach.

Is it me or does having arguably tha top 3 teams do this not completely undermine tha Millennium's top bracket in terms of any validity whatsoever? Not that the teams are in any way to blame in this - they are the victims of at best bad planning and at worse idiocy and/or other agendas.

How did it come to this? Anyone?

Teams should pick a league and stick to it.

Why should a team be allowed to take up a spot in a League and then say..."We are going to play another league that we think is better than yours, but dont worry....we'll make sure someone is playing so we dont lose our spots..."

Manchester United dont play the Premiership and the Bundesliga.

Just my opinion of course...

I think that it is a huge shame that 3 of the top teams will not be in Marseille, and as the Germany clashes with the second PSP event, XSV will not be at that either. So effectively XSV will only have 3 decent scores. Makes winning the series hard for them if not impossible unless their ringers are awesome players.

Would be interesting to know who is entering as Joy, Nexus an XSV. Pete? Magued? Rich? Care to enlighten us:)

We are due to play XSV, so it would be good to know who we are playing.

:)

Of course ! But lets just say that opinion is a little bit 'shortsighted' (Did'nt want to say ignorent).

A comparison between the prem & bundesliga in relation to MS & NPPL is a bit off the mark in that both are national leagues and are programed to alow players or clubs to compete in International events, i.e. world cup & world clubs championship.

The MS & NPPL, whilst competing leagues, have minimal competiton with each other. As demonstrated by this only affecting 3 teams. And whilst I've said elsewhere AS it only affects 3 teams this should not be a big issue to everyone else, it actualy is in the bigger picture as aluded to above in 'Agendas, Validity, growth of the sport and so many other things.

Are you for real??

Didnt we EARN the spot? Didnt we pay money to travell and compete and EARN a spot? So why shouldnt we be able to play both legues?

Just beacuse you cant play in both legues then nobody should huh? Pathetic..

Sjt we will field the players that didnt make the NPPL squad, all Joy players.

Just because I buy a round-trip ticket to Japan and a round-trip ticket to England for the same dates doesn't mean I should be able to be on both planes at the same time.

There's nothing inherently illogical about expecting a team to play NPPL OR Millenium, but not both, anymore that its illogical to expect a team to pick XPSL OR CFOA.

Earning the ability to play in each is not the same as having the ability to play in both.

Of course, that's all hypotehtical. Millenium has to accomodate the teams because the only thing worse than not having them there for the first event is not having them there at all, and we know that if push comes to shove, the teams will pick NPPL. So Millenium just has to take it.

Be interesting to see what Nexus do with them having such a tight squad this year, maybe some old boys making a one off comeback? Robbo?

Just like to clarify I know nothing and am purely asking a question, lol.

It's a valid argument, but personally I think that the Premiership and the Champions League is a more relevant analogy here, with the Millennium playing the role of the domestic circuit and the NPPL being the international one. And it doesn't only hurt the teams - it hurts the league - these three teams non-participation will decrease the standard of the league, its kudos and its interest to the US player. I don't see how the scheduling benefits anyone - teams, sponsors, organisers all lose.
