I think 12 bps is the right number, just more politically difficult for the PSP to do in one swoop. There's so little traffic over the pond that I'm not sure why it's such a big deal whether the two leagues are the same or not. Board makers just need to put out software with adjustable settings, and then it won't matter what the rule is.

I do think the '6 bps min' rule, if that's the way it is written, is a bad one. Far easier if it's just 2 shots per pull once you've pulled three times and it hasn't been a second since the last pull.

I've been talking to a few folk about the reasoning behind this and the problem is with the setup you describe is that it could cause legal problems in countries like Germany and to a lesser extent the UK, where any kind of burst or full-auto is an issue. It's a fine distinction but ramping the way they describe is not the same as two shots per pull, despite achieving the same result:rolleyes:

Lowering the BPS will not make paintball guns more legal in germany because shooting at 300 fps is way over thier muzzel energy limit and the ramping point it still ilegal in germany whether it ramps to 15 bps or 10 bps . the only legal limit in germany is semi auto and about 140 fps .
140 fps is unuasble for tournaments .
Also technicaly any gun going into germany has to be aproved and F stamped if they are not the police can leagaly take it from you.
So none of these proposed changes make the guns any more or less legal in germany if the milenium are doing this for this reason they are misguided.

So, will there be an official announcement of ANY of this? Or are players expected to turn up for the first event set up according to what some guy posted on the Internet?

Taken from MS website:

Millennium Series ROF cap in 2008

Following discussions with team owners last week and extensive consulting with various gun/board manufacturers the MS will update the respective wording of rule "11.01 Markers" to

- The first 3 shots must be semi-auto mode only.
- Markers will be limited to a ROF of 12 balls per second, defined as no two consecutive shots may be timed shorter than 83ms apart (reading on ROF meter of 12.0 bps or less = legal; reading on ROF meter of 12.1 bps or higher = illegal).
- Ramping of shots will be allowed only, once 6 bps has been achieved. Then the marker may ramp to 12 bps, but only as long the 6 bps is continually maintained. Once the trigger is stopped to be activated, only one single additional shot may be discharged.

Clarification: the 6 bps for start/sustain ramping dose not need to be hit physically, it refers to the time delay between trigger activations, which must be at least the equivalent to 6 bps. So a marker may start to ramp up to 12 bps, if (after the first three shots being in semi-auto only) the time delay between 3rd and 4th trigger activation is less than 167ms.

Only some stock and aftermarket boards are programmable to this extent.

Lots of boards will need to be re-flashed to accomodate these changes.

Also will UK leagues follow suit or not ?

NSPL, Masters, PA, D7 and Freekz events need to confirm their intentions.

Laters :)
I know for a fact that Masters will be 12bps starting from and including the event at bricket wood (st Albans) on the 24th of February :)
