To give background the IronLions London plans for the season included the whole Mill Series. We would be playing Div 3 or perhaps Div 2. Here we go...

So, the question to discuss is is the Millenium Series worth it? 3 days expense to travel and stay abroad for the same number of games available in a domestic tournie on a single day....

For Pro and perhaps Div 1 I'd go with yes as the best teams in a lot of countries will travel and play the whole series meaning your playing the top competition.

However with Div 2 & 3 is not a case of most teams attending for novelty value as they do the trip to the big tournie in the home country. Any team doing the whole series will not be playing the best teams of this level as most of them stay home.

To summarise so far: It cost more to enter, expenses for travel/accomadation are more, you don't get more games than domestic, and div 2 & 3 aren't playing the cream of amateur teams every event....

Perhaps the best route is the annual carnival and maybe a novelty trips abroad to another 1-2 legs without the whole series?

Looking at last year, The Div 3 winners played 4 events and 2nd & 3rd played 3 events.
Even in Div 2 we see teams in the top 10 only needing to play 4 of the events to get enough points.

Fairly conclusive that at these levels you are not finding the top teams of these levels able to commit to the whole series. If its possible to get some good scores in the early event will we need to do Spain? Maybe it could be cut in favout of an NPPL event. It would be a good motivation do to well in the first 4 events of the Mill Series

Interesting post but you then go and shoot yourself in the foot when you say about going to McMerica for an NPPL event. Its more entry fees, more travel expense and the same 8 prelim games.
Also, if you want to play the 'cream of amateur teams every event' then play Div I where thats exactly what they do, every event.

The NPPL just gor mentioned as I would be saying treating the Mill Series as couple of Novelty events rather than playing the full series. On that basis we may as well cut out a couple of Mill events and have a trip to the US. I'm agree NPPL event would be purely for the heck of it and a one of.

ok sorry to jump in but the dates are up and where eg: Paris

but it's a big place and if teams are going dont ya think i would be a good idea to tell us which area it's in to book hotels rather than find out it's the other side from the hotel bringing more cost into it not to mention the crazy drivers in paris..
