I have spoken to blakey tonight as i normally do after an event and i was very taken back and truley shocked by his coments. due to the recent happenings that took place this weekend at ancaster he was truley disgusted as he has only ever tried to build the mids masters for the players as he really does love the sport but after the event it has put alot of doubt in his mind as to run a series next year. His words to me were i started the series this year so i will finish it i will get round 8 out of the way then i will decide what i am going to do as his love for the sport seems to be declining. due to dolly throwings etc. he is also talking about cancelling shoot the rainbow which is a top event and calling it a day. personally i think that unless we the teams can start acting professionally again and start getting on with each other and start showing that we are good sportsmen and women & stop the bad language around the staging area as we are now starting to get familys etc coming to watch the series mark will call it a day and fold the mids masters this is the reaction i got from him tonight on the phone. Mark is a very approachable person if i have any issues i ask him to come to one side and he always listens to me then gives me his oppinium i never put bad things on p8 about the series as it is a top event yes we had a few probs the weekend but it was out of the hands of mark due to marshalls not turning up etc. but for a fight to break out this was truley out of order and could cost us all the teams a top class event every month plus a top organiser who has been around paintball for many years to drift off into the mist and never look back this will be a major tragedy for all of us as mark and phil and les have put so much time and effort into the sport for all of us. what else have we got in the midlands if the mids masters folds nothing. So i think it is time for all of us to sort our **** out and hang the boxing gloves up and start playing for fun again lets all try giving the mids masters help and start showing our appreciation to mark and all the other crew for all the time and effort they put in, yes we do play a very high addrenalin sport where we are pumped up in the heat of the game but we do need to calm down a bit or we are going to lose the mids masters forever and this will be a major blow for the tournament industry and all the teams out there that play the series. so lets all turn up at round 8 and try and help out as much as we can and leave the dollys at home and the boxing gloves in the garage and lets play the sport for fun again. when your playing your game just try and remember before you throw your dolly that this may be the last mids masters event you play unless we can change .
I bet that also none of you saw the television promoter that was there looking around who was going to do a dvd on the mids masters then saw the fight and asked mark if that was a regular thing you see we never know just who is walking around looking do we.
I do hope that this thread will make a difference and change marks oppinun of us & not fold the mids masters & that we can all make a difference to the mids masters thanks for reading.

Stopping the MM would in my opinion be a giant leap back for paintball. the series should not be disbanded because of the foolish actions of a few,

Blakey and crew have put a lot of work into this series to make it what it is, the best.
with the disciplinary commitee set up the dolly throwing etc should start to decline.

Please guys keep going, most teams are well behaved and are looking forward to the next series already.

yup i agree,
Personally my vote from the DC is to be more than harsh in this kind of instance. If we make the punishment far worse than the crime then the outcome would be to lose the players/teams that cannot control themselves.
Mark lets sort this out, the feel in general is 110% behind you and the DC, lets put it into place and rise above the idiot few.

Losing the MM would be a very harsh blow to UK paintball, lets take the series and the DC to a higher level and leave the cheating/aggresive/tosser scum behind. Remember mate they need you more than you need them :)

Love ya Blakey

I'm going to be controversial here.
Should Mark and or SAD kill the Midlands Masters what does that say to the world?
If you love the sport that much then you are going to do everything in you power to progress the sport to it's highest level.
What use is a DC when at the first sign of trouble you take your bat and ball home instead off batting on and hopefully recover the momentum in the following days play. The DC was created to deal with this sort of problem, let them deal with it.
If you are considering quitting, are you not losing the battle?
Is your effort worth it? Well look what you have achieved so far the biggest and best tournies in the country
Was Ancaster a disaster? One scuffle, missing a team of marshalls and ran late, look at the train service and compare think you have a seriously better record.
I've seem worse goings on in other major or minor sports.
Paintball is not exempt, it's how we deal with it when it occurs that matters
Time to make the rules and enforce the rules, no matter who the team is or who sponsors then.
Midlands Masters may have started out as a fun tournament to arrange, but now it needs to progress, which means a more detached approach from the organisers.
I have every respect for Mark and what he has achieved so far, but I do not believe that a man dedicated to any sport would let the trouble that occured on Sunday deter him from what he hopes to achieve in the future

Nothing in life runs smoothly. Deal with the problem and move on.
Quitting is not an option. The biggest loser then is you.

Sorry Lee
This is probably going to make me even less popular than I am now if at all possible.

For those who do or don`t know me this is MY personal opinion and should not reflect on anyone else.
that out of the way.
I have been involved in Paintball for a number of years now and am very ! passionate about the sport.
When it all kicked off on sunday I was sat with a couple of teams on the other side ,and while a few people got up tsee what was going on the rest of us just shook our heads and with a sigh said here we fcukig go again who is it this time ??????????.
We didn`t need to get up and watch the incident ,or guess who it was,as it was 99% guaranteed it was a top level team !!!!!.

Now is it because,
A) just the heat of the moment
B) The team know that they must win at any cost ?
C) lack of self control

For many years now it is a well know fact that as a team gets better and start getting recognised they will attract sponsership and the more sponsers they get the more pressure they have to do well or lose their sponsers. So the point of winning at any cost is now becoming the "norm",whether this is by bending the rules or just outright CHEATING/WIPING seems to be necessary (just don`t get caught).

I personally put a lot of blame on the sponsers who are happy to have teams winning trophies and shooting their paint etc,etc the list goes on .But who put players in a position where they are asked to compromise their own integrity just so their sponsers can tell everyone how good their product must be because team X,Y or Z win everything using it.
What a load of crap !!!!!!!

We all know the Best players in the world could use a std marker and they`d still whoop your ass.

Which means there`s another reason we all clamour for sponsership deals ,and that is to make it cheaper to play !

Obvious I know ,But,Think about this ,What other sport do you know that even comes close to being as expensive as Paintball ?
and who dictates this ............
Ah !!!! thats right the Sponsers !.

So to cure the problem of unsportsman like behavior we need to start at the top of the chain ,namely the the big companies who dictate to the rest of us how much its going to cost to play the game,eg markers that cost the same as a small family car thats got in built design faults which means you HAVE to go back to them reguarly to maintain it,this is just one of a long list of things .

And they also dictate alot of the rules we now have to abide by as they are the ones with the financial clout to enforce them.

the way I see it while Paintball is self regulated by various different organisations who don`t talk to each other or can`t seem to agree on a National standard the problems just aren`t going to go away !!.
What we need is a completely independant governing body who will set a standard and then rigorously inforce it so that everyone has to play by the rules or be Banned from the sport for LIFE.
Harsh words .......Maybe but how happy would YOU be if they Banned ALL paintball and outlawed the sport ??.Because a few people can`t behave responsibly ,WE give them enough ammunition to do this on a regular basis ,as I see it, it is only a matter of time before this will happen.

So please guys and girls have a team meeting and sit down and discuss this and what many people before me have said ,because WE are the only ones who can make this a sport to be proud !.

Hope I have made a valid point here as what else am I going to do on a Sunday ?

Its not just MM and Mark

Guys, isn't it down to you? You also have a choice to make. If no dicipline is handed out to the offender(I think not, every event this year they have argued or fought) do you play against them next time? Or do you refuse to play that game, you might come second on the day but pride counts and peer pressure is always more influential than authority! ALWAYS. I also think it would be hilarious for a team to turn up expecting to play ball only to get rejected at every game. All that money and time for a hollow prize! They might as well stay at home and get one posted out!

I hope they enjoy the sport they might create, but I don't want to play it that way. I even think they learnt to argue in French for Toulouse?

I wonder if that team have some sort of contract with their sponsors? I wonder what they think of their representation of their name?

I will stand corrected

Paul

I will admit that I myself have had an outburst on field, I also went back and apologised once I had calmed down. I also think it is unfair to single one team out, but and this is no means disrespectful, if someone mentions arguements and fighting at MM events 1 team comes to mind. This is wrong I know but usualy the assumption is correct. It is a sorry state of affairs and someone may be allowing the others to get tarred with the same brush.

In one aspect sincere apologies and regret might help, you know the red mist etc.

Sorry if I am biased, I don't know everything!
