It wasn't one stray shot - there were lots coming over every time players broke out.
That said I know Blakey and the team take all suggestions on board and this won't happen again.
Field 5 was a goggles only area so I can't really see the problem.
Grat event though - loads of fun
That being the case then the alternative is to set up the fields so that they are side on to the non playing area as opposed to end on as they were on Sunday.
How can an open field be a goggles only area?
No warning signs or anything.
Think about it, you play 2 games on fields 1 and 3, and your girl and kid comes to watch you. No goggles required.
You go out to play on field 2 or 4 and at the designated time they walk round to watch you. How do they know that its goggles only. Other spectators are watching the current games being played, not someone walking behind them. We are talking safety here, even players leaving the arena had to be reminded that there was an open field next door.
You seem to forget that if a player gets hurt playing then it's a sporting injury, and we are responsible for our own safety.
If a spectator walked up to fields 4 or 5 during game on and was hit by a stray paint ball from field 5, take my word for it Midlands Masters would have trouble explaining why there were no signs & no netting.
We all have to abide by the laws of the HSE and we have ensure not only the safety of players but that of the spectators.
I've heard loads of talk about making the sports accessable to non playing spectator and then we go and prevent them from watching 3 out of the 5 fields for the sake of cost of some posts and netting.
