The way it works is that you can be sposored by McDonald's Corporate, the big company, but the local franchises can also sponsor things. That's why you see many local soccer teams and such sponsored by them. The local franchises also sponsor many local goodwill efforts, like your friendly neighborhood plant a tree day.

Years ago there was a team on the millennium circuit, (the name escapes me) that had on their playing tops the McDonalds logo as the main focus of sponsor advertising.

Wasn't it Malera? With their old yellow/blue digicam-style tops?

I havn't read all of this thread but two weeks prior to Campaign, Team Xistence and East Coast Irritant had their training weekend in Holland filmed by Librium TV.

A condensed version of this was then aired on McDonalds TV across Europe for a week (I think it was the week while Campaign ran).

I should be getting a DVD of the filming and will Youtube it when I do.

I remember them, red tops and most of them dyed their hair red too. That was a way back, Campaign 2002ish !

Sheffield uni ice hockey is "sponsored" by Subway, Varsity (the bar) and KGM. They give us money in return for advertising and other support.

Now when I say we're sponsored by Subway, I actually mean the guy that owns the three Subways in Sheffield, not by Subway inc. And when I say we're sponsored by Varsity, I actually mean we're sponsored by the owner of Varsity on West Street, not the entire Varsity chain.

See what I'm getting at? We wear the logos on our jerseys, but are not necessarily sponsored by the big company, just the little franchise. I'm guessing it's the same with these guys.

Indeed! They provide us with as many of their own brand energy drinks as we want! Cherry FTW!
