lovin the input guys, i do find it odd that some people actually give up on markers with high shot counts and even low ones, i just think of the potential they could be missing out on.

Just because it has a high shot count doesn't mean its nearly dead

Talking of Shot counts and bedding in.

Has anyone tried using Reballs for bedding a gun in? surely a much cheaper way to do it, just buy a pod and keep putting them through the gun?

I cant think why this wouldnt work the same as frangible paint, can be done at home without the mess as well.

I agree with what people have said here, if anything i would question more an expensive marker with a very low shot count.

I know I have reset the counter on my Ego 8 a few times by pressing the wrong button.

Wear and marks on parts of the marker that usually mark free is a much better indication of use and possible lack of a bit of TLC

i have reset my shot counter and its happened every time i change a parameter. i do so because i am curious as to what the difference is. So must admit, unless anyone has a way of being able to find a way off adding u all these counts on a geo 3, its useless information.

Markers get re set all the time without the buyer even knowing. Its a pointless number. Alot of shots are from dry firing makers. Only way would for it to be worth a look at is if it could never be reset

In my time I've essentially only owned 3 markers. An Etek1, Ego7 and Ego8.

The Etek had approximately 90,000 balls through it, and the Ego7 about 130,000 by the time I sold them and they both ran perfectly. With both they were serviced regularly by the previous owners and myself, and I just made sure I kept it all well oiled and after a days play would strip and clean it if I had taken hits to the marker or it had got wet/muddy. If it was clean on the outside I'd leave it and not strip it down.

The Ego8 was bought with under 20,000 balls through it and was an absolute dog. I don't think the previous owner had serviced it at all, and first time I took it apart it was caked with crap on the inside, orings were wearing out, it felt like it had never been oiled, and in general was a wreck.

So I don't believe that shot counts really matter at all, what matters is how well a marker has been looked after and maintained.
