Yeah actually I think the market isn't doing too bad, you have a variable mix, & there is a range from low to high quality markers, there's less of a jump from £50 inferno's to £700 DM's like I found there was when I started playing. I paid about £300 for my first tourney marker- now you can pick up something of similar build quality and performance levels for £140.

And my 2nd tourney marker cost me £550. -With an ion now you could get the same quality, by just spending £100-£200 on upgrades.

I don't think we can complain really.

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING you pay for that only costs as much as production
Actually you're wrong. Bugatti Veyron, £5,000,000 to build £700,000 to buy one; well before the Arabian Sheilks get in.

What you have to remember is. While we consider Planet,DYE,SP and WDP etc to be big boys...in the scheme of things, they arent (apart from SP, they are absolutely minted)...they have a limited, albeit growing market.
But, they still have to pay wages etc, pay other costs that are based on what is acceptable in all markets. IE. The guy who assembles Ego's at Planet, who may make 1000 units per year, probably earns a similar amount, to the guy who assembles Diesel pumps at Lucas, selling 100,000 units a year.
So when all the costs are tallied up...unit cost is much higher.

The Buggatti Veyron example, is slightly different..as they designed it as an excercise in engineering, not a profit making one. They can afford to make a £4 Million loss on each car!

Ahhh, but proves a point that not everything is sold above the cost of production. I mean he did say "there is nothing and I mean nothing"

Lots of products are loss leaders, although I'm not sure this is wholly appropriate to guns.

God it's become boring in here of late.
