Evening Tom,
Thank you for your reply. To be honest I not sure on tournaments, most likely because I have never seen or taken part in one.
The Team I am hoping to join has only just formed so it might take a while to get to a tournament.

If in doubt about tournaments then you could go for any style of gun that takes your fancy
If you were to look in my collection you will see such a variety that contradicts me in recommending light ergonomic guns! But I do have some

Try and get some hands on for what feels comfortable for you

The optimum is a speedball style gun - because they are exclusively designed for paintball
Unless looking at mag fed or true Milsim then it does not matter what your choice of gun is for the woods or scenario
There is no real need for any 'tactical' add on either, the two useful options are a torch for night/CQB indoor games (but you can keep it in your pocket as you should not turn it on for most of the time-if it's attached then it is convenient to turn on when you do want it) and a camera to film (common options being on gun or on goggle) anything else is just weight
The Etha is still a good choice.

The future option of speedball is something to consider as you have liked the idea and you can develop the 'natural feel' of the gun
You might want to buy a new gun by the time you consider speedball anyway, but it would be frustrating to have to just because you bought a more bulky gun then a speedball one

Regarding specific branding and speedball, there may be sponsorship or support arrangements. With a new team it is less of an issue
They are often referred to as sponsorship, but vary from a basic discount that anyone could get just by chancing it and asking or doing a bulk team purchase (Or link to my teams Facebook and like us and you too could find a discount code!),these come with no real commitment, or more of a discount from having more of an arrangement with a company - this comes with more commitment and obligation subject to the agreement. This is when a team will start being consistent with brand or a retailer
True sponsorship comes when what you bring to the sponsor added value - you may now get things for 'free' moneywise but you have to make that worthwhile for them - help them out, become a good advert for them, in tournament play win games, but do it well and without cheating

Unless the prospective team look to have brand preferences then it's too early to think that way, but possibly consider what is local - start your relationship now with a 'local' retailer or site

Hi all,

I am looking at starting paintball back up (currently do Airsoft) and was after some advice on markers please.

After trying out a few markers on a walk on day at my local site (Holmbush Farm) a big thank you to the guys who let me use there prized markers. I feel more comfortable holding and shooting with a mil sim one and looking at getting either the BT Omega or GS36. I will be mostly doing woodball.

Or should I forget about the Mil sim ones and just go tournament, as that is what I will need if the team I am looking at joining will be doing once it is formed.

Any help would be appreciated.
If you dont mind not having a milsim marker I'd go straight for the tourney marker. It'l perform perfectly in the woods and be lighter and smaller to boot.

best thing is to get one of each of here or another forum like UKScenario and see what suits your style of play best.

I prefer playing with tournie style markers in woodball but have mates who love their more chunky military style .
