Hi all,

I am looking at starting paintball back up (currently do Airsoft) and was after some advice on markers please.

After trying out a few markers on a walk on day at my local site (Holmbush Farm) a big thank you to the guys who let me use there prized markers. I feel more comfortable holding and shooting with a mil sim one and looking at getting either the BT Omega or GS36. I will be mostly doing woodball.

Or should I forget about the Mil sim ones and just go tournament, as that is what I will need if the team I am looking at joining will be doing once it is formed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Etha and EMC... you get the option to use both with Milsim. Or just the Etha for tournie

That gives significant flexibility for a relatively low cost.

If you intend to play sup'air tournies, a milsim marker probably isnt the best choice, but for UWL / woodsball tournies it is less of an issue

You will find over a short time your gun bag will swell, you'll have markers for differing games. I've a pump, a mechanical, an electro (or 2, you'll always need a backup old trusted faithful). I've a blink marker (sup-air) Bright Red Timmy and a subtle camo marker (woodsball).
You'll also find you'll have different tops, backpacks, gogs, for each type of game.
Not trying to scare you, your budget might be restricted, just explaining that its the norm NOT to buy one marker (or other pieces of kit) to do all things. Get the best you can, in the budget you have, for each type of paintballing you are doing.
I'm not sure that helps.

Best hide your reply from my wife lol, with regard to budget I have around £400 to get started so the Etha is looking very good at the moment. The site I go to said I can use the pot ect of off them.
Just need the Marker and goggles.

Just my usual argument on the use of the term 'milsim' ... Woodland and scenario are not Milsim, tippmanns etc are not Milsim

Milsim is a style of play and there is an existing Milsim community and specific games - these will look familiar to an airsofter. (Players, gear and equipment - even though there may be the age old paintball/airsoft argument)

Magfed is gaining popularity and may or may not be Milsim

In the woods and for recreational paintball you don't need any special kind of gun, and if you are looking to a tournament team then that is the style you should buy for. Even if not going for tournaments a bling/tournament gun is perfectly fine for the woods

I believe the title was Marker Milsim or Tournament and after advice on what type of Marker to get.
Not once on your post have you put anything that helps me with the question I was asking.

That's why it's on the Newbie section and not another. As I said at the top I do Airsoft (where the main types are milsim or two tone) and just getting into Paintball.

But swaying more towards the Etha now, after looking at reviews.

Just need to try and find one before I spend my money.

So you have the option of keeping an eye on the Classified. A 2nd hand Etha will probably cost approx 200-220. EMC kits are less likely to come up and I know LIPS had these in stock. They could also sell you a new Etha if you have the cash!

No offence but the first part of my reply was to let you know that Milsim is something different
My advice was the final paragraph:
