Ok I know I promise that this would be up by the end of october but due to my bank being staffed by fools ( there is another way you know yeah turn left and go to HSBC! avoid natwest!) anyway due to some F**ked up laws about money laundering cos I have an isa and want a paypal account ( they won't let me transfer money to it) (note to self change sig, John Wilson Terrorist) anyways. I can confirm that I will get this up as soon as I can ( prob once my account has changed). Just to remind you about this.

For Free
Registration on the database online, if you marker is stolen you inform me and I will update the site within 48 hrs, shops can then check before handling it.

For Five Pounds
All the above, plus you kit is alpha dotted (a type of id, www.alpha-dot.co.uk) this will be avialble at the PA League, and hopefully Series 2004 (once I ring bully and ask.)
There will be a demonstration with my OWN brand new shocker.
The police can read this system and it is widely used, it can get you a discount on insurance etc. ( only with some insurers)

If you need to contact me for questions, suggestions or anything else.

although i respect you for the effort, how will this solve anything? How many times do you see people post stuff on here and everyone always says they will keep their eyes open for the gun....how often do they ever get found?

Also, it would not make any difference at all if you had the serial number noted down, as their are so many people with the same colour guns. No one ever goes up to anyone else and says "your gun looks like the one i had stolen last year, mind if i check the serial number?" That never happens!

Good effort though, i just fear that it will make no diference

I know that this is not the "holy grail" it will not stop people nicking stuff and may not ever help, but what if it does? and besides if it doesn't work I may be classed as a muppet for ever ( nothing new) if it does then I'll still be classed as a muppet but with a good idea. Its for people who are willing to try this out, to spend 5 minutes for the possiblity of helping themselves in the future. I understand your point and I thank you for the fact it was well said and wasn't rude, I can't do this alone, which is why I rang bully about it, and have been looking at making this work.

My reasons were exactly what Red_Merkin said: my other thread ( somewhere in the depths of Speak your Brains) mentions that my paintball kit ( all of it ) is insured for 500 quid with a 250 quid excess, (great I get a quarter of my markers cost!) my darts could be insured for 250 quid with no excess! confused I was.

If people are willing to do this then wonderful, I'm doing it, if they think it will never help then I truely hope they know that in a few years no kit will go missing, I think it will happen ( see any of the campaign cup threads) until we have a utopia this may help.

Besides possibilty of getting marker back? for free! yes please.

If you do see anybodys marker that is nicked try this, cool marker can I have a look? note serial number in head. ring police woo hoo! Although I agree not likely.

Every other sport has the ability to get there kit insured for a decent amount, well I want that too! my fishing stuff and darts are worth about 100 quid together but are insured for about 200, my paintball kit is worth lots, dunno how much but 3 markers must be worth something, is insured for 500?

Arrgh *crunch*

Bugger who nicked my soapbox!!!

Those alpha-dots are cool - I got some for my phones.

Thing is, as Sam says, not sure the police really give a sh*t about checking stolen mobiles for micro-dots in the hope that they might return them. It's easier for them to just issue you a crime-reference number and let you claim off your insurance. :(

Good idea nonetheless... I'll definitely be registering my guns (altho my shocker03 doesn't have a serial number... :D)

I noticed that on mine to, its on the box 359, but not on the gun ( cunning huh?) e-blades have the milling very close to the serial number apparently some companies mill off the serial number? ( that is just rumour I heard) hence the alpha dot idea.

It would be very easy to give every marker in the world a unique serial number ( hell it works on network cards) but I can't see the peeps who make em liking that.
I meant roughly how many guns do smart parts or planet make? say we give a 6 digit number and allocate 1xxxxx to planet 2xxxxx to smart parts 3xxxxx to wdp ( no real order there) that 99999 guns they can make before running out, using hotpoints numbers from a different thread (will find soon) 5000 uk tourney players, that should be more than enough for the UK market. but I'm starting small, so alpha dots it is!

You have a box?! ;)

I've been assured mine never had a serial number... as it was one of first (if not THE first) into the UK and only ten were made like it... :D:cool::D

On my alpha-dot bottle it only talks about phones, and how they've worked with police forces around the country to approve the use of them. Are they likely to take any notice if they come across a marker with a "Protected with Alpha Dot" sticker - and where would I put my sticker?! :D

Ah the sticker yes, well hopefully, need to chat to Bully about this, most markers have a hollow grip frame, if we get him to let the police know through his special bully-phone they could check, once marker handed in if the marker is alpha dotted.

as for the sticker, thats up to you :p but please no photos.

Again all ideas, I may only help with insurance and to show that we as a group of sports peeps are responsible, just incase Mr Blair decides we are secretly in league with some "axis of people we sold weapons to a while ago"

:p

It's all good............yes you're unlikely to get stolen markers back, but the register would make it hard to sell them on to second hand shops and the like. Plus.......what about those stolen by run of the mill thieves? if the police find a batch of stolen property and your marker is in there.......you're unlikely to get it back (how the hell would they know it's worth a grand?)............but if it's alpha dotted? even a slim chance is better than none.
Plus, the police may show more interest in recovering markers than phones...... ten times the price and capable of blinding? (plus a concussion bomb strapped to it).

Thanks for the support, everyone, I really mean it.

Jose I'll even do you a cheap rate as you have many lots of markers ( I'd heard that it was roughly 15?!?!). WHY?? unless you're going for the record?

Just re-reading my post I'm going clafiy something, the fiver is for one marker, but if you have more than one marker the charge will not be a fiver per marker, prob something like 2 quid extra per marker.
