Ive just acquired a Viking and after doing some research about it, it appears that its biggest 'selling-point' is its efficiency- somewhere in the region of 2000 paintballs per 68/4500 fill.

As far as I'm aware, the Viking is a similar design to an Impulse, yet boasts far superior efficiency than said Impulse. Why is this? Whats so special about its internals?

Now what I'm also wondering is that presumably if one marker can achieve this effiency rate then others can. Whats so special and unique about AKA markers (viking, excalibers etc) that other markers dont emulate? Is it purely copyright and patents, or is it something else?

Cheers!

cos lambos and ferrai's have v10 engines, and a ford fiesta zetec has a 1.2L engine.;) i understand thats not what you ment.

he means some companys put a lot more time and effort into the markers. if the good company finds a fault with there marker, they put back launch date and make sure that all bugs are sorted, and dont just throw out makers every few months.

The Mrsp of a Viking is approx £370 brand new. Now a new DM6 has just been reduced (on Slothball) to £750 and there are several other high-end markers in the same price bracket as this. So why do these guns cost more than this relatively mid-level (in terms of highlevel tournament play) marker and yet dont offer its relatively unique feature of high efficiency? It cant cost that much more to produce, or the Viking would cost considerably more to purchase.

Also, any idea on what particular feature of the Viking enables this high efficiency?

the aka vikings were hideously expensive when they were produced but you did get a lifetime warrenty with them.

So what does the Viking have to make it so efficient? Is it fair to state that its based on or similar to the Impulse? If so, why is it so much more efficient? What parts/design etc makes one gun more efficient than another?
