Ok I know I started the thread...and didn't offer an opinion as to who would do well (sensible as it turned out;) ) But something cropped up unless I missed what was going on....The schedule got messed with 'cos of the rain but as it "appears" with the scoring....did the Pro's play a whole lot less games to get the win, certainly looked that way or was this one of the results of the schedule change...if it wasn't then seems just a little unfair that the other divisions had to play more games to get a lot smaller prize pot. Not bitching about it just curious to see if this was the case, I do realise that there weren't a lot of Pro teams there but still seems a little off. Anyone care to explain?

there were only 5 Pro's, so they just played a double round robin (8 games) and winner was highest points. To have a Finals bracket that only cut 1 team would be a little stupid I feel. I think they were going to only do the 8 games anyway, even before the rain problems.

Ok understand now..well kinda. It will be interesting to see what the 1st Official PSP Event does (I know this "was" a PSP event but wins within this tourny don't count towards the series finals AFAIK) Maybe Pro will dissapear? I understand the stupidity of having to only drop one team so that makes sense. What doesn't in the interests of fairness is that the other levels winners played 8 games and then a further 6 games (Semi-finals followed by Finals). So in this case the other levels paid for the privilge ( ) of having Pro teams at the event.

I don't quite get what you are saying dude

Pro teams paid X amount each - only got 8 games
Other levels payed X amount each and got 8 + 3 + 3 games.

Therefore surely the other teams are getting a better deal than the Pro's if you count cash in / games out?

The Prize package was the same whether there were 5 Pro's or 30, so that didn't get affected by attendance?

If you are saying about pro's only playing amongst themselves - well this is what PSP are effectively now doing with Xball etc so yeah, playing PSP events isn't going to get you a game agaisnt this sports best and brightest, but that's been on the cards for ages and one reason why i don't think PSP will be as successful.

But I got to hand it to Lane, Rosie and the crew, to fit in a 3 day tourny into 2 with all the weather problems etc is a result, respect is due.

They did it alright, thanks to some impressive work with draining the fields, which went from 4 inches to over a foot deep in water Friday to mushy with a few major muddy spots Saturday morning. The mud made it really fun and great for pictures, especially on the DYE field.

We ate at the Acme Oyster house for dinner Friday night and it was some of the best food our people had ever eaten. We made the requisite stop at Tropical Isle for hand grenades. And again. And again. Yummy drinks they are, and powerful too.
