depends how good the joins are,

if its held together with only good will and PVA glue then yeah.. its gonna break.

if its welded (or whatever you do to aluminium) then i doubt it would break.

I recommended braizing it together.

Braised a fitting onto my school made potato cannon, if it can launch a potato 150-200m, im sure it can take someones fingers bashing on it :)

Twas a suggestion, he wants a blade trigger, and hes going to have to make his own trigger fairly thick to avoid bending, so instead of sawing through maybe 1.5 or 2cm thick of metal, it could be an idea to make a template and split it into bits.

Get yourself some delrin off ebay or something.
Much cheaper and I would say easier to mess about with.
I've made a few simple yet great triggers and was hoping to get producing them but uni got in the way. I started off with just using a mechanical saw and pillar drill, then just playing about.

The ion is probably the easiest to make one for as you dont need to start putting in grub screws to adjust or activate the switch
