The Wild Geese Scenario Paintball Team are very pleased to announce that MAGNUM Footwear UK will be sponsoring the team as of May 2004.

MAGNUM Footwear UK makes boots that are ideally suited for The Wild Geese’s needs. Used by Police forces and Military units around the world, the boots provide excellent grip, support, protection and comfort for playing all day in. All members will be receiving the top of the range Elite 900 Leather WP boot that is one of the most technologically advanced combat boots in the world. Features include a fully waterproof leather upper with a Sympatex (R) lining for extra wet weather protection and breathability.

MAGNUM Footwear UK is delighted to be supporting The Wild Geese, describing the deal as “…good brand promotion”

Wild Geese Merchandise Secretary, Michael Rose, who led the negotiations said “This is not only great for The Wild Geese but for the whole Paintball community, as it is yet another indicator that companies outside of the Paintball industry, see us as a viable sport worth supporting. On behalf of the team, we would like to thank MAGNUM Footwear UK for their support and we are looking forward to a long and mutually rewarding partnership.”

robbo and any other pro's wishing to take the piss

The fact that this team which i have no affiliation with is advertising its first major sponsor on here and is proud of the work the manager/secretary type person has put into getting this sponsorship is hardly something to take the mickey out of if you ask me.

Any type of sponsorship is welcomed within this industry and as we dont all have the experience, contacts and respect within the industry itself to gain mass sponsorship from company's within our sport i think it is wrong of someone like ureself to make any jest about a smaller lesser known team getting what looks like one of there first major sponsorship deals from a company outside of the finnicky circle that is paintball.

anyway this is just my two bobs worth .

i do of course wish nexus all the best with all there international tourney's this year flying the flag for us brits.

and you geese keep up the good work and don't let anyone put you down.

these are my views and not those of my team or any of our affilliated company's/sponsor's

regards and respect

Jinx (Mr Official PA Ref), if people can't have a sideways chuckle (and that's all it was) at a post without being accused of 'putting people down' then you need to visit a different site.
It was a harmless dig in the ribs, that's all, I have had a lot worse directed at me.
Don't make mountains out of molehills for your own ends !

The post he made was OTT, my god, if I, or anybody else can't have a little laugh at a Press Release that has the same tone as Nike sponsoring LA Lakers, then I would feel derelict in my duty as a paintball cynic not to comment.

Get a handle on this ffs !

Peace and Respect (for those who deserve it)

Jinx,

A bit of banter between the Tournament and Scenario Teams ain't a bad thing. Reading what some of the Geese post (not necessarily in this forum), but some of them have both a developed sense of humour (I've seen and rather like the T-Shirts), and make interesting statements. P8 would be a richer place with more contribution from these guys and a bit more two way banter. I mean at least they are capable of structured English unlike some of our contributors.

And our South African friend Douglas, definitely rides the Short Bus to school.

Allow normal service to be resumed..

Ooops Robbo kinda beat me to it.

Hi guys......

In regards to the comments above. We certainly can take a dig/joke and also hand them out.

The reason for the announcement being such a big deal for us is simple.....This is the first sponsorship deal ( that I can think of anyway) for a UK team, that plays anything but Tourney....is that something that could give a bit of encouragement to the hundreds and hundreds of players here that don't play in a tourney team? Just a thought........

I should point out that when the American scenario team,Blue's Crew were sponsored by the very same manufacturer last year,PGI was more than happy to run a news item on it...are we UK players no longer as news worthy as our American cousins?

We have also just reached agreement with Celtic Paintball. The Wild Geese will be shooting Celtic at all big games/scenarios from now on.

I hope our efforts for the UK rec scene will encourage others to form teams and play more........And good luck to ALL UK teams for the rest of the year,no matter what your chosen field.

Regards Spike
