Add to the above that Tom's fittings make it much, much easier to release the line compared to a lot of the cheaper stuff.
The swivel elbows are also very smooth and feel much more sturdy than most. Using cheap fittings is like using thinner wire when wiring up your house to save money, why take chances over a couple of quid?

Yeah they're pretty much industry boggo standard fittings which i think most if not all manufacturers supply, 290 psi is thier max working pressure and they are normally used in very low pressure applications,

One small problem, my fittings use 6mm hose rather than 1/4" used on other makes.
This means that you would have to change the other end as well.

So whats the proper technical term for 'macroline' then?
