macroline pressures

Another thing has just popped into my head, how controlled are you co2 fills. It's quite easy to overfill a co2 bottle, if you're there when the fill is taking place check the weight of the bottle after filling. It should not really exceed 3lb 4oz, or 1.4kg for a 20oz bottle. Recently a friend had a fill at our local site and it was nearly 4lb, and yes it blew the burst disk just before it was put on the gun. So check the weight.

macroline fittings

some macroline fittings are only rated to 190 p.s.i.
so no matter what macroline you are using 300 or 8000 p.s.i.
the fittings them selves will not be able to take the pressures.
Just imagine the damage that could happen if your reg fails and 4500 p.s.i. vents through a 190 p.s.i. metal fitting.
so please check the fittings are man enough to take your
particular set-up.

cheers

Good thinking loz, most of the fittings are crap. There are better fittings, but they are not common.

Most of our fittings come from existing pneumatic suppliers, who only stock low pressure fittings, but as long as the fittings are metal, not plastic, they seem to cope. I know this isn't good enough, but this is how it's always been.

I'm currently working on a few ideas, so hopefully fittings with a high pressure rating at a good price, and small as well.

I have owned shockers for many years and have never had a problem with them. I would suggest all of the above, but double check the pressure output from your reg. I am assuming that its a max flow. Thats probabily the main culprit! The hose I use was low pressure and bought from Planet in the UK. I am not sure where you live but check it out. Worked a treat.

Good luck.

You won't have a problem with your shocker on any type of hose as they only have 200 psi max out of the maxflo. I have an old pvi shocker somewhere at home, and it uses plastic fittings and light hose. Most other guns have a higher output from their initial reg, probably about 500 - 750 psi.

I know this is a bit late but i think your problem is, you're using existing macroline between the bottle and the reg. No good, this hose will always burst at that pressure. Shocker hose is only to be used after the reg, not between the bottle and the reg.

You need better hose for this. Give me a ring on ***********, or text me and i'll ring you back.

Funny, it seems a lot of people on these boards have problems with macro lines, whereas I have never had any. In this situation the only thing that I can see is that the heat expands the co2 in the line which causes the macro line to explode. I have seen that happen before.

I think the problems were always there, but no one had said anything. You're correct in saying that when it's hot the co2 is at a higher pressure, and with the fittings and hose working at their max pressure allready, they fail.
