M25 sparklie here

Firstly hello to all reading these boards.

Secondly my thanks to all involved, obviously the teams for supporting M25, Bt’s free for an hour evening calls package which make it slightly easier on the phone bills especially mine and Liz’s.

Obviously to Liz for the sterling work she dose, also to Trevor. Ralph I am sure you will all agree is a very welcome member of the team and my thanks to him to. Ours sponsors Smarts Parts, Diablo, WDP, Rp Schererand Powerball, Servere and Victory, Zap, Extreme Rage, Recca Barrels, Jam Bolts, Planet, Walk on Zone.

A huge thanks goes out to my marshals It was hot! it was dam hot, you all worked your butts off. I know lots of the newer marshals spent time learning the rules and taking advise from the more experienced marshals on the fields of whom their were just a few. Field one had Jon bon, Fossil, Deno, Tiny and Big Face. Not one of them arrived on site expecting an easy job or shirking from the job they were expecting. This was the best ratio of experience marshals to newer marshals to date. I would also like to thank the set up /clean up Crew, huge thanks to Jiggy and Rob Lloyd, “ I wondered what you were moaning about now I know it really is hard work” We have been out from 7am till gone 7pm some nights building and setting up the event. Only 1 more day to go!!!

I’m not stupid, I have marshalled in hotter weather with more games, 3 days on the trot and stayed up drinking and ran my arse ragged. Hence stocking up on drinks and crisps (for salt and dehydration) and diralite and sunscreen plus after sun. This was why I was more than happy to say yes to all the brilliant wonders full people who offered to get shot to **** for us J

On a positive note the majority of players and people attending appeared to be having a really good time and looked happy. There are still lots of things I will and would like to have done differently but lots of positive things I am proud of too, the netting and my new scafloders, the very safe chronno station. This is a very steep learning curve for all of us involved and that dose included you the players our paying guests.

The swearing!

The Cheating!

The abuse!

The mess!

None of this is making it any easier for any of the staff involved this should have been one of the best events to date and it probably was. I have spent it with fingers crossed trusting in you good souls to behave and not let us all down. Was my trust misplaced? in some of you sadly yes, using banned staining paint, I know who you are I picked up your mess, I chatted to you during the day along with all of the teams. The cheating oh my lord the cheating only today I found an Allen key tucked away by the starting gate um how did that gets there? Why was it there in the first place?

In some cases we excelled our self’s in others…………..

We did our best.

Running a series that has inherited the problems we have is not easy aiming for the standards we do also not easy.

Respect helps, respect for the venues, other players, your marshals and your team and your self’s. Can we truly ever call our self’s sports men and women, with practised timed cheating moves, shooting from dead boxes, not forgetting the intimidation, whipping, playing on, ect. Sadly I have had emails and phone calls about all of these.

One team to my knowledge felt that their guest for the day was pushing the grey rather to hard and asked him to hang up his goggles, and some very fair play reports came in from some unexpected places.

Iam not a committee, just one committed individual trying to do her best to promote her sport and give it’s players some were decent and clean and honest to play.

Sadly I am not omnipotent I try; these are all new venues they all have issues too, this one had Allen. I expect I bored you all senseless explaining that it was the first time the venue had ever been let out to the public. Allen was brilliant till Saturday after which he was on tender hooks about every thing. Sadly this meant I was too. When I should have been calibrating chronnos and explaining how things are to be done I was trying to find players who “were dropping off kit”

The contract I was finally handed on Thursday evening basically said one little thing and were all off end of tourney. If I had not spent a good hour rounding up players to move their cars there would have been no tourney. Iam not making any excuses just some facts for you all to mull over so if I looked pissed off and stressed it was because I was. We had a beautiful day the fields were all built lots of marshals it was all set to be a really enjoyable day……….

And I can’t wait for this one to be over :(

I have trawled though all the posts and am flattered that so many of you feel so strongly about the series. I have asked the UKPSF training squad when they can run the next course as lots of newer or inexperienced marshals would like to attend. Hopefully the kind offers of Dave Stewart and the Outcasts, tigers AM and Tiny and crew to marshal stands also many of the independents have said they would like to marshal again. The more experienced I become and the less exhausted the better my vision becomes, I appreciate all your comments and I do sift though and try to see were any problems are occurring and were we can make improvements.

I was hoping to be able to take more of an active hand on approach this leg but due to injury (seriously ripped muscle) this has not happened yet. Please feel free to email or pm me I am listening.

Keep safe happy balling sparklie

first of all i would like to say thanks for a great day, i known many teams had i prob with the ref but i thought they were ok.
the safty netting and bunkers were top notch but...........
I asked you a simple question at the end of the day(do you know what the final scores are?)
you replied "can you go away and leave me alone please player"
this is down right rude and unnecessary, a simple not yet player or give us ten mins plse mate would have done.
these events cost a lot of money to players(and to you i know)
and i think some situations could have been handled a lot better.

plus red raven pants and high heels??????
wots that all about?

Hi Neil,

I could say have you not read my post?

Did your captain not explain ..................

I did not mean to be rude, and did say please. I was trying to get the marshal organised, Liz to come finish the scores ect this was my 5th day working in that heat.

Iam not allowed to touch the computer when I am stressed I have very high natural electicity hence why I can't wear watches and it may well have crashed I really wouldn't want a repete of Reading.

This is still the first year and I am very much hands on and doing way more of the "work" than most people would expect. I was exhusted after my personal worst M25 :(

My raven Pants were brought at world cup so I would be easy to find and accessable if any one wanted to talk to me during the day.

High heels why not I am a girl after all.

She could have said.. Look at the score board Dick Head. Maybe that would have been better.

Stress is a funny thing and I think Sparklie can be forgiven for not answering such a stupid question.

Keep up the good work Sparklie, if you hadn't held the tourny the wingers would have just been sitting at home polishing their pistols!!

Thanks Rupert but as our events are not held on paintball sites they do not have big score boards, have have not yet got enough of a portable size so they are on the lap top hence why I dare not touch it:eek:

I tried at Reading it crashed Liz nearly killed me and it all took ages:eek:

I am aware every one wants to know how they are doing whos winning ect But there were 4 score sheets and no Liz when they came in she was taking a very well deserved break!

I take it you were'nt there or you would have known there was no score board (richard head).
SO WHERE WERE YOU? At home i take it polishing your pistol
this post was clearly meant for sparklie, no one else could answer my post, so thanks for your 2 pence worth and if you read my post and understood what i said! I never said she did'nt do a good job.GO back to POLISHING BOY.
SPARKLIE no matter what our differences, i wish you all the best
in the m25 league it can only go from strength to strength.
if you dont get any feedback you never know how people feel
I'm not going to reply to any more posts this matter is closed.

Red Raven Pants and High Heels, mmmmmmmmmmm nothing wrong with Sparklie! ;)

If teams didn't cheat, didn't push the rules we could get away with inexperienced marshalls. If I feel a hit first thing I do is look for paint or put my hand where the pain is. If it has paint on it I walk. Doesn't say much for our sport that the marshalls get so much grief and intimidation.

At the end of the day we all should be grateful to people like Sparklie & Liz, Syd & Rob at the SWPL, Bully etc.. if these guys and gals didn't get off their arses and provide places for us, where would we play?

Final thought, relax, ok so a decision may go against you, it may be unfair, the scores may take longer than you would like to appear on the board. What does it matter in the big scheme?

Peace and fair play for all.

Well said Budgie:)

No matter what is said on these boards, I feel Sparklie has taken the iniative in helping the sport progress.

And as for final scores - I don't normally care that much, just happy to have played some great 'ball with the Funkiest Monkeys around:D

The Venue and field set up was wicked nobody could argue with that and lots of lessons have been learnt about safety issues that’s for sure as it was all top notch.

Budgie my friend i would love it if teams didn't cheat and push the grey area it's certainly something we don't tolerate in out team, but there r teams out there that do it, brag about it and generally think there cool because of it and these people suck ar$e. But sayin they shouldn't or if they didn't we wouldn't have a problem is dreamin it happens at all levels and as sad as it is it will never stop until teams r caught and punished heavily for it (but thats a whole other issue)

Now the reffin:confused: i'm not even going to talk about our games but generally the refs were watching the game and not concentrating on there specific players and not reacting to calls to check players quick enough (cos they were day dreaming). one game i watched a clean player pulled out of his bunker to b checked by a judge, while the judge was looking at him the player was hit, the judge was looking right at his head (where the guy got hit) and then called him out:confused:  surely the player was neutral as the judge had moved him away from his bunker to check him!! i could go on but there's no need (big up to the oukast crew who were by far the best). and yes i judge all the SWL events so i know what i'm talking about!!!

and i think what neil was trying to say is that Sparklies attitude to the players sometimes is not particularly pleasant We R Humans u can speak to us like people and mayb u could put up a sign to stop players interrupting liz while she's doin the scores rather than shoutin at them!!!!!
