To stop teams sandbagging how about lowering the entry fee.

I played for Kamikazzees UK at Toulouse and we finished 3rd in div 3.

Now we could have entered div 2 as we had just started to push the top of the b div in the northern series in the month before toulouse after languishing at the bottom B and at the top of C when we were dropped down since the begining of the year(only 3 divs most of the time), so we weren't rookies but we were novice as we couldn't hack it in the domestic league against teams which would play div 2 at Millenium events. After proving ourselves in Toulouse we were going to step it up for CC and Malaga but the team disbanded.

One of our players i think is going to continue using the name with some new rookie to novice players with only him being the sole survivor of the team which came third in Toulouse would that make that team sandbaggers? (there not playing cc anymore but i hear its still on the cards for malaga)

At the same time money does come into it the difference in price between the divs may not be that differnt but it makes a difference in a decision when you are just scraping the money together as it is.

So if the millenium made the bottom two divs the same price to enter then allot of teams would play div 2 instead of 3 as in the end the price was the final deciding factor for Toulouse as half the team wanted to play div 2 and half div 3 in the end we went for the cheaper option.

You brits (genrally) complain too much about sandbagging. it's pathetic. But then again, complaining about everything is sort of a national past time, isn't it? Especially if you just want a moan, and don't want to actually do anything about it. ;)

Let your game to the talking, and tell all the haters to shut up. If they don't give them some extra luv.

If you all just put the same amount of effort into training as you do into bitching about sandbagging, this would be the greatest paintballiing country in the world!

when I started playing waaaay back in the woods, we always tried to play the best teams, and my team at the time took about 1 1/2 yrs of beatings before we started to gel and win games. Then we started winning tournies. It was accepted that you would get beat for a while before you started getting good. Do yourself a favour and enter the best division you can, playing better teams will only make you learn your faults, and fast.

See it as a challenge, and stop using the word sandbagging.

Alternatively, Millennium et al bring in some rules that don't try and strangle new teams at birth by making them chew toys for people who should know better.

Which ties in nicely to Jasper's closing point. Mil pricing encourages teams to play down. If participation was price neutral I think you'd see a much more representative distribution of teams through the various ranks.

But makes a mockery of Colin's defence of 'give the haters some love' - that's the whole point; if you're playing in that bracket you shouldn't be good enough to give extra love...or have the attitude to shoot the **** out of your opponents. By the time you get that cynical you should have got more than enough game to get out of the little league.

I mean, 'Let your game do the talking' - you're not supposed to have any game in the Rookie league. That's why they call it rookie.

It's standard Smacktalk defence...and it's shortsighted bollocks.

I been crying out for it for years having a players register but to some people it just seems like too much hard work and the sand bagging will continue.
I wonder how many teams will have experienced players playin in the supposedly rookie division
I think there will be a few familiar faces kicking about ;)

Again, this Rookie Division...I thought that was why the Mill Series changed the names from Am A, Am B etc,,,to get away from this.

Has there ever been a Rookie division in the Mill Series?

no there hasn't been i don't think.
It was always a novice section and i do believe you can still be novice at a game after playing for years if you still get your ass kicked by the am teams every month in the domestic scene.

Not to pick on anyone cos i liked the team and we have one of there members playing for us now but the stormbirds when i first came onto the scence were novice and by the time they finished they were still novice and after playing against them many times even i knew they could be nothing but novice as they got there assess kicked by am and novice teams all the time even though they had been playing for years.

My point is playing for years doesn't necessarily mean you are a good player or team it just means you enjoy playing it even though you cant play it very well so why should you have to play even harder teams if you cant beat the minnows just because you have played for a while.

Before anyone flames me about what i said about the stormbirds, stop get in touch with sammi and she can just beat me up at the next event.

Also before anyone says anything my new team will be playing am next year as two of us that played in toulouse are good enough to play am and are dragging the rest with us :D
