Info was split over a few posts, the important bits are:

Right guys. I am going to get started on the website soon. It'll cost us £19.99 per month to run it. I am hoping some of you may wish to chip in.
If you chip in, I will of course grant you rights to your own Northants Giants email address, rights to update the site and change the homepage and news, moderator on the forums. If we ever get big enough to advertise on the website, you will receive split share of any profit. If we ever sell anything on the site, you will receive split share of the profit.
I am also thinking of something like getting veto rights for those who chip in. What do the rest of you think of this?
Ideally if we can get this split 5 ways it'll only be 3.99 a month each.

Just read through the terms and conditions for the website. Once the 30 day free trial runs out it's a 12 month contract at £19.99 a month or £239.88 a year.
Basically those of you who want to chip in I will ask you to pay a share for the year, so if there's 3 of us that'll be £79.96 each, 5 of us £47.97 or 7 of us £34.27 for 13 months of website.
I will need to get at the very least 3 of us chipping in, or I will have to cancel before the 30 days is up to avoid the fee. Obviously ideally if there's 5 or so then the costs are not too bad.

Err why is it so expensive? Domains are about £3 / year and we really don't need anything more than a £5 / month hosting package, maybe start with a cheaper one and upgrade if we need it in the future.Yeah please do mate.

That one is hosted on 1 and 1, they do their click+build for phpbb and joomla and that'd do pretty much all we will need.
Pixel internet also offer a similar package slightly cheaper.
Basically we're paying for the ultimate ease of use. It is very easy to use literally click to open boxes and add content, and to use the template.
I don't have time to code up my own webby or even install Joomla (which took me an age to try to install last time) it's also a program I'd have to learn to use and I just struggle too much for time.
Basically 1and1 was my only option, I am sure there are cheaper alternatives available, but I did have a good experience with 1and1 in the past and with limited time and effort available it is perfect, the templates are smart and we can all go on and add content in a matter of clicks without learning how to use Joomla.
It would be ideal if we had someone with the time and knowledge to make us up a Joomla template and as you say, we could probably have everything running for half the cost of 1and1. Any takers?
