O.k....been out and about this morning in desperate search for some loctite 290 and only found the 243 as below (copied from stickies)
********************************************************
Loctite 243
Color: Dark Blue or Purple
Strength: Medium
Can Be Removed With: Standard Hand Tools, and a little work.
Reccomendations: Bit stronger than that of 242, but will work better with screws that will need to be lubricated or may become oily with use. Same uses as 242. The Swiss-Army Knife of the paintballer. Not too strong, but not weak either.
********************************************************

I know its not ideal but does anyone know if Its strong enough for macro fittings as I dont really wanna use tape unless I have to:cool:

Usually good enough - 243 is sold in shops as "Lock'n'Seal", but I have found it is inclined to leak slightly on high pressure fittings if you don't get the application on the threads just right.

I use 638 (green and goopy) for almost everything that needs to hold well - holding hammers to ramshafts, feedneck threads, as well as gas fittings because it seems to seal much better, and it's not impossible to remove, especially with a little heating. For small screws which need to be removed easily, I use 243.

For grub screws that may need frequent adjustment, most of the above aren't much use because they set solid and turn to powder when you remove items. Instead I use Tamiya R/C threadlocker, which stays sticky for years.
