In the UK they are static and have been for yonks...UK subs base is reasonably static too, though we have a low retention rate, which means that as existing subscribers drop off the end (due to quitting, presumably) new ones take their place.

We do the odd newsstand promotion where we'll whack a load more copies out and spend some money at Smiths, but the results are negligible and to be honest with you it's a bit of a waste of moeny, but we do it once in a while for increased visibility and to get into some new outlets.
I couldn't renew my subscription PGI as I was going to be flitting between addresses for a while. (Don't worry, I've been picking my copy up from WHSmiths in Brum) Just thought I'd say the letters they send you are hilarious. The first is just a regular please re-subscribe letter a couple of months before you finish, then you get one saying 'fine leave us then, go and play golf. See if we care'. Had it not been for the address thing that would definately have secured a re-subscription. :D

We are here to entertain. I suggested we follow up that final letter by sending a mime round, but I was vetoed...

'Sponsorship' is bollox. Our entire team plays without it, we pay full clout for everything & we still manage to play twice a month minimum. Half the problem is the fact that froums like these are populated by immature, pre-pubescents that think they are 'Sportsmen' after playing paintball for 6 months. Unfortunately, these are the people who voice their opinions the most frequently & are heard the most often. The rest of the children then take this uninformed claptrap as gospel. Why do you think Angels (as a good example) are losing money so quickly? Because little Johnny gets one on a 'sponsorship' deal, for five eighths the retail price, keeps it for three days & thn decides he wants something newer. But, if he can't sell it within a day of posting it on here, he drops the price by £100 a day until he gets shot of the thing. This then sets a precedent as to the resale value of every single gun of the same make/model!!!! If paintball were unavailable to under 18's (it should be as far as I'm concerned) it would be a much better hobby, with much less aggro!! :(

ps. I'm 31 if anyone's interested.

i know im a little behind as ive only just read the thread but it seems that evryone is putting the name twat to the younger people (ie under 18's) im not saying there arent any but there are also alot of over 18's that cause hassle and aggro and eradicating under 18's from the game wouldnt stop the aggro but would limit who plays.

Yes, I see your point - i'm a twat and im well over 18!

Im also packing things in, but only for 3 months or so whilst wifey has bambino #2 :) as i can't get the time to play/train - ill be back in 3 months or so when she gets pig sick of me being around! :( :D

I also like the fact that the word "twat" doesnt result in "****" appearing - will use and abuse this until the Mods suss it out :p

It isn't just people under 18.
IMO most of the under 18 players I've met have been fantastic, really motivated & want to improve themselves. I hear a few talking about not having enough money, but fair play most of them have to work to earn the money to play. A lot of under 18s have other issues like parents splitting up etc. In danger of sounding rather immature but either some of you haven't experienced these problems or you've forgotten what it was like, & for these guys to be paying £90+ per month on a sport they want to achieve in and improve themselves in, is dedication. They don't buy CDs or drink, this is what they do.

A lot of you will have full time jobs, good for you, bet you get a couple of days off a week though? If you're a student you spend 5 days a week 9-5 in college or school, spend all day saturday working and sunday playing.

Personally...haven't really had any problems with anyone, but the people on here who cause the trouble are a range of ages, most mid 20s. There're always going to be people who want to cause trouble or just...don't have a good attitude generally but I'd say that wasn't confined to under 18s.

I am giving up playing for a while, I have no money & should really be saving for Uni. Thankfully I should be playing near enough in the future that I don't have to part with any of my stuff. Probably get into marshalling or something.

Go see Kerry at the NPF. I am sure she will find work for you Rosie. I will put in a good word if you need one. Kerry and I go back a long way.
Thanks for that :D, but I mean marshall a series like the Masters, which is sorted if I want to. I'd like to be trained to be a Mil marshall as well, do you have to pay to get that?
