I prefer the piezo-electric idea... the piezo crystal will generate a change in resistance/electric potential EVERY time you tap it - regardless of whether you've taken your other finger off it already, and how clumsy you are at walking. There would be no "sweet spot", and the concept of pre and post-travel would be eliminated, since tapping it in whichever position would still generate the required change.

(yes, it's already been done... let's see how long before a link gets posted)

im afraid to burst your bubble but i've had this idea before, and im afraid so has Sephiroth, so you obviously cant have found something to innovative ;)

take a look in that thread, second page.

and booti, if you set the beam literally 1mm, even less away from the frame, there would be no problem with mis fires. you look at how you fan your trigger, your fngertips will come more than 1mm away from the trigger i guarantee it.
and as gups said, and i said in that thread, it has to be a physical trigger until the rules are changed :)

Mike...

No, that's not what I mean exactly.

In this instance I mean you would have the beam in the centre of the trigger guard, not at the back position like a conventional trigger sits. Therefore the users fingers would pass back and forth either side of the beam at an equal distance each time - the fingers doing the firing would make no physical contact with the frame...

meh, same thing.
would have to probably do something about the size and shape of the grip and its anthropometrics. as i could could foresee some problems with pains in ya hands for some reason.
i see what you mean now about the faster method of 'waggling' ya finger, but ive found that with something to actually contact with, the trigger, you can go longer ;) :D
its harder to regulate how far you 'waggle' your fingers if theres nothing to contact.

i see the future now 'Benfrain sued for numerous counts of RSI from using new fangled trigger frame'
