I might be opening a can of worms here,

What legal standards apply to paintball tank regulators, bottles have to be PI tested to use in the UK and Europe but what is the situation with regulators?

I'm interested in people's views on the subject, what are the facts ??

Thanks :)

Think they must have 2 burst discs one HP one LP, each has a different job, one protects the gun and the other one the bottle, but not 100% sure

Regulators need to be Pi certified as well. The only Pi certified regulator that I know of is the Airborn regulator made by Arrow Precision in Aldershot.

this is a good question.

I run a max-flo adjustable reg for my automag which only has 1 burst disc, shoreline events require 2 burst discs on the regulator for the system to be used. does the law now require 2 burst disks or is it a individual request on the event organisers.?

is my max-flo illegal to use as it is a necessity for the performance of my 'mag in my opinion or do i boycott shoreline events due to 'their' requirements and not the laws.

Truly im shocked,

Ive read many, many topics about DOT tanks and Ive seen them all end with the community swifty clarifiying the situation, usually with people flying the "ilegal"and "saftey" flags from the mountain tops.

There are many many people on here that are quick to defend the sport by keeping us all on the right side of the law but as far as I can tell by your comments this one has slipped under the wire.

I think its in all our best interests to clear this situation up, can anyone point me in the right direction ?

AFAIK there are no requirements for regulators, the majority aren't Pi tested and some still run single burst discs. If we start jumping up and down on this subject where will it end? Pi marked macro line, elbows, in-line regs, LPRs, solenoids, rams/bolts? How much will that push the manufactures costs up having the components tested and approved?

I'm not condoning unsafe products and practices but I'm certainly not condoning nanny state 'elf & safety regulations! How often do you hear of a regulator failing?

Yeah its all a bit silly really.
As soon as you do anything athletic like diving, or fill your air system up (from a fast fill system like ive experienced at shoreline paintball among others) your using the bottle outside of its intended use and the PI certification becomes meaningless.

Cp do slow filling regulator nipples which is a step on the right direction.
