no doubt a split second's stupidity that results in a tarnished reputation for both the individual and the team. suppose nobody can say with any true certainty whether they really were ignorant to it. justified decision regardless of this, since it is the team's responsibility to manage their players and subsequently it is their own fault if those players are untrustworthy.

I'm not so sure his outburst is symptomatic of a split second's stupidity ... most times I have seen people scream obscenities in a split second's stupidity, it's more along the lines of using words such as c##t or pr##k but to call someone a 'stroke' is more likely to be an emergent property of a disturbed character who has little respect for anyone even though there are many people who might suffer from this terrible affliction .. I have lost it many many times and descended into screaming abuse but I have never stooped that low and never will; I'm also pretty sure this would stand for the vast majority of most people.

I think this guys just one of life's scumbags for saying something like that ....

I doubt it. There was a fad amongst the kids where it was funny to say "Aids" or "go get Aids" etc, which is of similar ilk. He probably says it with his friends all the time, which desensitized it, and its now slipped into real life.

Having a search on google cant find anything with reference to the word stroke being used in the US as a slang term for w?£ker other than when it is used as an adjective "stroke your pickle".
I guess Missy may be able to help more on what it means in the US of A

It doesn't have the same connotation as it does in the UK, and doesn't refer to someone having a 'stroke' in that sense. It has a meaning more like 'homer' to a Footy-ref, but isn't as clearly defined as that - think "He pulled a right stroke to get that deal" and you would be in the same vein.
I don't hear it much, and was surprised that it warranted a suspension at all.
