'Tony' I watched that whole game taking pictures and was a few metres away when the incident happened. I was/am on your side. I wouldn't have remained as calm as you did under the circumstances.

If it were on video it would be one of the best 'out takes' ever. It was seriously funny after the fact.

I was just teasing you with it earlier but it comes back to what Rancid saying about perception being reality. People look at all sorts of different incidents in paintball and take them different ways.

Not all pro's cheat, but a visual portion of them do. And most pro teams have people on them that don't have any qualms about cheating. The thing is in my opinion you could change the word Pro to any other classification and it holds true still.

There is cheating all through paintball it's not just pro but it's more often seen there because more people are interested and because more people care about the results.

I still think the worst cheating is in Big Games :)

p.s. And thanks for proving to Rancid that my post wasn't entirely irrelevant :D

Tony

It seems my post was miss-read. I know that alot of players cheat in paintball as with all sports.

I was not pointing the finger at any team or players with what i said.

Sorry if i offended anyone with my post.

There is cheating and there is cheating... anyone can wipe a hit, be they pro, am, nov, whatever. The real problem is when refs wipe the hit for the player.

Referees are not tempted to wipe hits from nov or rookie players to increase the chance that the team they play for will get a new sponsorship. They may be if the team they are marshalling is in a position to make recomendations for sponsorships.

Am teams should never marshall pro games. Reffing duties should be applied downward, not upward. If insufficient unbiased refs are available, it makes no sense to find the party with the most temptation to hold the most trust.

what you have written is a load of crap!! there is no evidence to suggets this at all, i have reffed pros before and stuff like this has never entered my mind. i always try to do my best whether i am marshalling nov, Am, Pro or rec ball. i think that many feel that way too. the way you ref directly reflects on you and i doubt anyone would wipe a player down cos they thought they may get sponsored!!!!!

how many teams do you know that have an influence over which teams get sponsored??? i cant go up to Dyansty player in a millennium event if i was reffing and say 'i will wipe you down if you give me a JT sponsorship' and for you to suggest that is utter rubbish. It is the companies who deal with sponsorship packages not the teams that have them!!!!!
refs do not usually wipe hits either! and it is stupid for you to suggest that a pro would make a sponsorship reccomendation based on a wiped hit, and then for the company to listen is silly.

What you dont seem to realise, and i am not saying that this does happen, but if the result of the NPPL or Millennium series is in the balance between team A and team B, and its the last event, and B are playing and need to win the final game, and it turns out that the reffing team are team A. and team A are top of the series, but will lose it if team B win, would they be tempted to help team C to beat team B so that they can win the series???? (hope that makes sense)
