i know it was a very funny system that syd was using, and all it need is someone to say a few positive things to syd about how's the best way to run a self seed tourny and i'm sure he will change it for next year

agreed..... this is my only gripe with his event....

to have the top two teams after a day and a half play each other before finals is wrong...the way it was set up meant that the final would have the best team out of div A/B playin the best team out of div C/D.... i mean, you still gotta win all your games to win the event, but, from a spectators point of view f nothin else, it prevented the two 'best' teams from reachin the final

to a certain degree I can agree with the seeding system being open to abuse, but would have to draw your attention to the fact that regular teams from the SWPL also attended this fine event.

Day One final scores in whatever division, will count as points towards the Southwest Leagues Leg 4 scores for 2004 season, so without doubt all the regular SWPL teams would be playing their socks off to gain as many league points as possible.

My team MH2 , did just that and ended up in Division 1 for Day Two we were totally outclassed in some games but not all , and held up well aginst some far superior opposition a BIG-UP to all the teams that played Div 1 on Sunday, it was a fast learning curve (and maybe next time we can get paintballs that actually break on people and not just give them a headache)

My views are as my teams are. Yes it is easy to sand bag at an event such as this if the SWPL is not your overall tournament so the saturday points mean nothing to your team. But why cheat ?
If you are as a team prepared to cheat such an event you must be firstly a very poor team, secondly what do you prove Nothing! all your doing is cheating yourselves out of really hard deserved wins. But really is winning every game really that important. Losing to a team is actually a way of learning how to pull themselves together and push themselves harder. There is no way Team Zone will never sand bag an event as we would rather meet the bigger teams and play them than beat up on the newer teams . Just ask Shockwave pro, we have played them twice in less than a month and i believe both teams have great respect for each other. So stop bitching and just get out there and play your heart out. If you see a lane or a move you think you can make just do it or you might regret not taking the chance.

Big thanks to :-
All the teams we played including the Cool as Ice boys as it was good to see you again. to shockwave for a geat game as we cant wait to play you again. To sheriff for guesting for us and making our team 7 players. to mac for driving from leeds to play for us in our 2nd squad. To Tony (team Swarm) for having a supply of shirts, to warren wood paintball for the hellfire and also to Gill at hanger 18 . But most of all my team as they are the best guys i have known for a long time.

Be good all and enjoy yourselves. see you at heavens gate 3 next year

I cant say i saw any teams sand bagging it on the first day. every game we played on saturday was hard fought (thanks to all the teams we played for some great ball) however i do agree with imps point there should be some reward for placings on the first day and preferably with similar kudos as the sunday. hopefully next year syd could convince a sponsor to provide some prizes for saturday as well.

at any rate, it is a fantastic venue with a lovely playing surface better than some millenium events. The field layouts were great and they generated some really enjoyable games to watch. it's a testement to the event that teams will travel from as far as manchester to play in it. Thanks to all involved for a fantastic weekend.
