Always seems really slow for me around midnight? But it does seem a bit slower compared to other forums/sites.

That happens for everyone mate, it's the actual site doing something, cant remember what exactly.

Midnight is the backups running as far as I recall
Slowdown recently has probably been the Ego/Geo/Bubblegumbob thread spammage, and the fact that the site host has switched over and the DNS changed. With the DNS changing it can cause connections to take long whilst some routes aren't mapped ......kind of like all the maps changing and having to ask for new directions.
