Hi

I have an IR3 and a "bit" of cash to spend....

Just wondering peoples views on going spitfire or buying something like a speed 04 or something for £200

I fired a spitfire on the last walkon an it ripped like mad..

SO... Spitfire and a Stiffi barrell or a new marker?

Soz if this has been laboured before.....

Well, I certainly don't think a Speed 04 would be bringing anything new to the party. I've lost touch with Angel prices, but you're not too far away from looking at a speed 05.

To me, a modern tournament paintball gun needs to have eyes, end of. If you like the iR3, then do the Spitfire mod. If you find it too heavy, then it may not be for you. The stock barrel is about 220 grams, the Stiffi is 53. This is a good difference but nowhere near as much as an iR3 compared to an Ion...

Looking good....

The converstion to 9v battery removes some weight also?

Also run an Angel Air & Reg, should change it to a preset....

All jokin aside, I can ball all day long and the weight does not bother me... :p

How long to turnaround the spitfire mod and does anyone know the best place to purchase the barrell?

Cheers

Hi, ok... good call!

Its like this, I play fair with the IR3, cant say I love it but its always been good to me and has never failed

To change markers would be probably to keep up with the jones's unless it had a considerable difference...

I cannot afford an 06 or DM4 but want something that performs a bit better than the IR3

What would the 05 / A4 Fly bring that the IR3 does not have (or a spitfire modded IR3)

Ta...

Hi Sophos9

Removing the battery helps alot, it saves some weight and also moves the weight of the battery to the grip, giving a better balance.

Also remember the ir3 is a very efficient gun, more so than any gun released in the last couple of years (except the Tippman C3 but that runs on propane!!) So you can get a smaller bottle to reduce the weight further and still get as many shots as people with other guns and bigger bottles.

Turnaround time is around 2 weeks, usually a bit less...

You can get stiffi barrels from powerball I beleive.

The A4 fly or Speed 05 would have eyes and weigh less than the IR3. They also operate on a lower pressure and are not quite as harsh on paint.

The Spitfire mod would add eyes to your IR3 and remove the need for the internal battery. (I believe you can still use the internal one if you so wish, or as a backup).

Also, I may be wrong but I believe that Tom Allen does something that reduces the cocking pressure and also makes it softer on paint, but again, no 100% on that.

You should email John C, he's the man with the answers :)

If you want a Speed 05 then I'm guessing you're going to have to try and sell your IR3 first. So one of the other advantages of a spitfire would be that you wouldnt have to try and sell your current kit first.
