Hi if anyone can help it'd be much appreciated.
I gassed up an IR3 last night, it has a leak coming from the top of the ASA where it joins the grip frame, I've taken the inline reg of and checked the orings on the ASA, they seem fine. Any ideas?

The marker has about 11000 cycles if I remember corectly....

Cheers,

Paul.

Need a bit more info:

What's your input and LPR pressures? I'm thinking dirt contamination leading to a leak through one of the safety vents.

Unlikely, but have you removed the grip frame recently? There's a set of o-rings on the COPS assembly that must be there else you get a leak.

Hi Paul,

I had the exact same problem with my IR3 when I first got it. When I applied soapy water near the grip frame I could see it bubbling out.

I had to take it all apart and change the little black seals on top of the regulator. I also lubricated them a little before screwing it all back together.

The first time I put it all back together it was still leaking in the same spot, so I repeated the procedure and REALLY tightened it up (the bit where you put the allen key through the reg housing. It was tighter than I thought I should (I was worried about breaking the screw or something) but it sorted the problem and I haven't heard the leaking noise since...

I would be very surprised if it wasn't the same thing with the one you have...

ok as you look at the angel from the non lcd side at the top of the ASA there is a rectangular gap, thats where the leak is coming from.

Output pressure wise were talking under 100 psi here. As for lpr pressure I dunno, the IR3 has come direct from EDP so shouldn't be an LPR issue, unfortunatley I don't have the angel tool kit anymore so can't really check.

Anyway, I'll strip her again and give it another go.

Paul.

Yes, Paul - that is the exact same spot my leak was coming from - make sure you put a little lubrication on the seals (by the way, the seals inside the reg looked perfect when it was leaking but I changed them anyway, don't know if that made any difference or not) and tighten it up REAL tight!

That should do it...

Hi Paul, if you take off the flash tank (frm) you should have a thin rubber seal, check it for damage or dirt. Then take off the flash tank manifold (the bit with the rectangular hole) you have 2 manifold seals, check that they are in the correct position, greased and free of damage/dirt etc. Ideally you need to just replace them, seal damage, as you know aint always visable to the naked eye.
If your absolutely sure that the leak is only coming from the hole, I doubt this is an LPR issue. Its more likely that a manifold seal has been crushed or pinched by the lpr lock pin or the body.

If in doubt, frazer@wdp-paintball.co.uk

Am I to take it from that Angels/IR3s have a reputation for being less than reliable?

If that is the case I sure wish I had known before remortgaging the house! Mine has just gone back to WDP because I can't get the velocity above about 180! Frazer has said he will sort it but I have to say I'm none to happy at present - first time I used it I had the leak Paul describes. Second time was this sunday at OTE walk on and sodding thing wouldn't go above 180 - had to borrow a cocker from one of the nice chaps at Planet.

Is there any marker out there that just works - at least 'most' of the time?
