I love the ionman event and everything it stands for, but here is my post from ionman forum:
Seriously? Then if you are gonna do this why bother paying top dollar for UK refs. Obviously you musnt think doing their jobs effectively if you need to be recording every game to catch wipers?
How are you going to record every player on the field on both teams an equal amount? For instance, what if a player gets hit running to a bunker and dives and the hit is lost (acidently)? Say the ref doesn’t see it but ‘beadles about’ catches it on his handy cam, you then going to ban that team for something that wasn’t picked up on the field.
Bloody hell man, isn’t this taking the whole ‘enforcing’ the rules thing a bit OTT? Surely what happens on the field should be dealt with by the refs, not some whinger complaing that he thinks someone wiped, when really he missed or it bounced?
What is stopping me coming to you after every game and saying, ’that team we just played wiped’. Whether I thought they had or not, you would have to go back to the tape andlook for footage of ‘what you deem’ to be a wipe from them, then they’d be screwed, for what Is essentially me being a **** and hoping that they did something wrong and got penalised!
If you are gonna do this for wiping does that mean you are gonna be checking calls made by refs and reversing them, checking guns touching start gates and pulling people from games after events, you see a gun shooting what you think is a little fast, you gonna 141 them?
This is madness, you say the ionman is about fun, well to me having my every single move recorded in case I ‘cheat’ isnt fun.
Im all against wiping and I totally agree with the 341 penalty it gets but come on, this is so flawed it’s unbelievable.
The refs are there for a reason, they are UK refs, the best in the business. If the PSP can trust them to do the job on the field why cant you?!
This is only gonna end badly when someone is falsely acused.
Why not have a proper set of rules like the PA/Masters have and actually enforce them rather than trying to reinvent the wheel? As it stands there is no set rule book for the ionman.
I have never seen anyboody 141'd on the field at an ionman event...this is either because everyone plays fair, or because e the refs have been told not to do it.
