ion ramp problem

here`s the history bought second hand for the classified forum. it came with a seal gone in the reg (bob long) & twisted gauge (over pressure). put the original reg back on & chrono it to 290 bps without a problem, ramped the little mother and the paint fell to the floor. New duracell fitted before use, and stripped it last night to see if reg seized or solonoid fault (seams ok). told by smart parts that planet QEV fitted was crap & to replace back to standard, on the lookout for a New Design QEV (recommended by smart).......... jon

Sounds like SP are telling porkies again there.

QEVs are all functionally identical.

I reckon its the reg, hence the previous owner replaced it with an aftermarket one.

Personally, I'd take the QEV out and reset everything to stock settings (Dwell, Recharge), if it's the QEV then just leave it out - none of the Tigers use QEV's as the damn things cause far more problems than the slight increase in efficiency is worth IMO.

Mr Pink outranks me on seniority so I will cowtow if forced to here...

The problem isn't the QEV

All the QEV does is control how fast and where the gas vents. Your problemis input, not exit. All our team run Planet QEVs, fitted by me or Your-MUM. There's no disadvantage, and the primary advantage is gas effienciency, and it's not slight - but I know I should do proper tests to tell you how much better it is than use vague similes.

John C also massively outranks me and I don't know much about anything but I do know about Ions, hence I diagnosed something that SP still can't explain and that I can, and that every SP tech I've spoken to can't diagnose but I did (magnetic bracket).

John C's right. Main reg. That's all...

Love to all, as ever

try the battery if you aint already fixed it :)

edit: sorry, read the rest of the thread, definetley sounds like the torpedo reg is faulty , try putting the stock reg on?

THIS MESSAGE IS TO THANK EVERYBODY WITH THE HELP GIVEN
replaced the seals in the reg, fitted a 0-600 psi gauge as running on low pressure & if reg was to let by would`nt knacker the gauge again. bought a crono as needed to check the fps, ran the air from the cylinder to allow it to be fully screwed in. had a leak on the back small pipe going from the solonoid to the rear banjo (replaced pipe) gased up to pressure 190 psi and tested single shot at 289fps......... went into ramp and works fine!! AGAIN MANY THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HELPED........ JON
