Cheers Bulldog, thanks for not flaming it!

I haven't seen one in action so (like I said above) what I said was based on research and talking to a few people.

So basically what your saying is it keeps all the cr4p out the solenoid, but it can't break the 17bps limit.

But, ramping (when turned on) breaks the firing mode up into 15 - 16 - 17 equal parts (depending on what bps you have the marker set to - For arguments sake, lets say 15bps) the marker will fire a shot every 1/15th of a second, its been programmed into the board. Surely having a QEV will not make the marker fire and a faster rate as the board won't allow it to cycle that fast.

I fully understand about getting rid of the cr4p in the marker, and I see that as a good thing, no quarms there. But I'm still bemused as to how, given the board is capped, a QEV will make the marker fire quicker. It doesn't seem possible.

Like I said, I haven't seen one in action, when I do I might realise why it can (if it does)

Hmm.. Still no closer to answering it at this time though. :confused: :confused:

Yeah, but you're talking about ramping, which is a whole other can of worms. In semi (what I was talking about), the gun fires on the next trigger event detected after the bolt returns. The player is of course unaware of this and is just hammering away as fast as he/she can.

Therefore, the shorter the cycle time, the more of these are picked up in a 1 second period, up to 1 per 1/17th of a second (if there are more than this they would be ignored anyway, assuming the bolt has already returned...)

Oooohhhhh!!!!! So, in ramping, not effective but in semi it is! got it !!! I understand that. Right, sorted that bit of confusion out then (well, in my head anyway!:D )

So to summise;

QEV Pros

QEVs lets you gun run cleaner
In SEMI mode, can increase your bps through slightly quicker bolt cycling times
Will reduce dwell
And can increase air efficiancy somewhat

QEV Cons;

Allow you to break the electronic cap
Uneffective in any other mode accept in SEMI
Voids warrenty (if your bothered)
Requires body modification to install
Can be harsher on paint

Fair conclusion?

It doesnt let you break the ROF cap, but it will let you shoot faster in semi.

If your gun takes 1/17th of a second to cycle the bolt, and you pull the trigger twice 1/18th of a second apart, then your second shot is ignored because the bolt hasnt returned yet.

If your gun takes 1/20th of a second to cycle the bolt, and you pull the trigger twice 1/18th of a second apart then both shots are counted. It just waits until a complete 1/17th has passed before firing the second time.

Incidentally most decent boards only start ignoring trigger events once you hit 1 million trigger pulls per second or so....

The pros are nearly correct, dwell and efficiency are linked though. and as someone said you cant get more bps, you can just reach 17bps more easily in semi mode cos the gun is cycling faster.

As far as the cons:

If you get the right QEV you need NO MODIFICATIONS
If oyu get the SP banjo QEV replacement it shouldnt void your warrranty id hope

good luck with your ion

Will reduce dwell and therefore will increase air efficiancy editted

QEV Cons;

Will not allow you to break the electronic cap and neither will anything else editted
Speed increase ineffective in any other mode accept in SEMI - but you still have the benefits of air efficiency and no grease through noid in all modes
Voids warrenty (if your bothered) tick
Requires body modification to install if you use Planet QEV - Clippard QEVs which are rebranded by many sellers don't
Can be harsher on paint nope, not in my experience

No such thing exists
