Ion vs PMR

Olly,

Straight out of the box the PMR is better than the Ion, as is reflected by the price. The PMR is about £230 and the Ion £130. I've heard a few stories about the PMR bolt being a bit poo, but maybe others who have had first hand experience could help you with that.

I'm a big Ion fan, well at least a big fan of my Ion, which I've upp'd and upp'd to the point where it out performs all other entry level and most mid level markers, but if I was to buy again from scratch with a limited budget I would probably get a PMR. Mate uses one and he is very pleased with it. Nice bit of kit.

Hope helpful.

Cus.

the pmr is around £250 everywhere i have seen it - some people dislike the trigger but you can get an aluminium or dye ultralite one for about £17 and this is the only real upgrade the marker needs - unless you want to get an ultralite frame but this bumps the price to around £370 so maybe not to start off with.

personally i didn't find the trigger bad - infact i loved it so much im getting the pmr

the ion - well if you fancy something you can keep spending money on until it has no stock parts left - go for it!

PMR is the better gun but it depends on your budget. There is a nice cheap upgraded PMR in the classifieds atm.
i wouldnt of said the pmr was a better gun, even if the pmr cost more, ive owned both and the ion in my opinion is better, now if you are gona pay in the region of £250 for the pmr, my advice is either go for the ion at approx £150 use the rest for training or buy a secondhand ego;)

Have a chat with John and Chris at LPS. You never know what they can do for you. :D Also I think they sell a new boxed ion for about £130.

If your thinking about buying an Ion and want to modify it, for advice on Ion upping, look at my stickied thread.. ;) http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=81735

Plus I would say an upp'd Ion (in the right way) would be better than a PMR, but the PMR does look nice don't it. I was looking at one of these last month but took it on good advice that going from my up'd ion to the PMR would effectively be downgrading rather than upgrading....

Just recently started shooting a PMR i've also got a slightly upped ion, the same as another one of my team mates and we both find the PMR to be better each to their own though :) we've found the only things that need changing are the back cap, on/off and the barrel out of the box. I've still got my ion I just don't use it :)
If your at the masters at all or if by any chance your at the multiball over at the warped cosford site just ask around and everyone'll be happy to let you have a go with some of the variety of gats around :)

pmr is better build quality, and dye will probably sort out any problems you have, or for that price you can get a second hand ego 05 which is also good, try the guns out and see which you prefer!

as for the bolt in pmr, it is a bit naff, my team mates snapped in half, dye just sent him a new one!

how much would it cost for an Ion with the upgrades recommended for it and also the PMR with the advisable upgrades?
