some FAQs

We've had a number of questions posed to us recently regarding Invasion 1940 which is being held on 10th June, so I thought it would be useful to share some of the questions and answers as this may be helpful.

Q: We're in a team/large group, can we book a provisional place?

YES - We've taken a number of provisional team bookings. We appreciate that most teams only book 1 game in advance given the costs involved. Many teams will be going to games in the calendar that preceed Invasion 1940. These teams want to play Invasion 1940 and ensure they are all on the both the same team and in the same platoon.

We have been and are taking provisional bookings from teams. The maximum platoon size is only 35 [4 platoons in the game = 140 players in total] so if there a groups of of players or teams who wish to play together on a certain side, but don't currently have funds please email info@invasion1940.co.uk We can hold provisional places on the order of battle and do our best to ensure you play together in your preferred platoon & team.

Places will only be held for a limited period of a few weeks as if payment isn't received and other players book in and pay we will release the places. Its like having a no-cash deposit, albeit with the caveat that if places aren't confirmed by payment in time, they will be lost.

Q: Will HPAC be present?

Yes - HPAC will be present supplying air to 4500psi. There will be self-fill stations at *both* safe zones. British players at the far end of the site will therefore be able to re-fill their HPA tanks from the comfort of their own safe zone, which is also their spawn point.

Q: Will anyone be selling paintball equipment and the like as per other paintball games?

Yes - NPS - National Paintball Supply will be present with their truck. They will be providing all the paint [therefore keeping it at the correct temperature] and will also be selling all the usual equipment and spares

Q: What facilities will be available in the new safe Zone?

A brand new safe zone down the far end of the field is being constructed for Invasion 1940. This will be used by British forces during the game as their safe zone and spawn point. This is where the British commanders will give their mission briefings [away from the ears of the Germans ...]. The zone will be covered to provide protection from the elements. As well as self fill air, picnic tables and toilet and chrono facilities will be provided.

Q: Is a map of the scenario game available?

Yes. A high res colour map is available for download in .bmp format from here:

http://www.invasion1940.co.uk/I1940map_0018.bmp

What missions will we be playing?

The scenario mission briefing document should be published in the next few days. This contains full details of all 10 missions that have been designed. Only 4 of the missions will actually be played due to the dynamic nature of the game play.

What is the deal with Scenario/Combat Vests?

In the rules it states that with the exception of players are wearing authentic and appropriate WW2 costumes, they must wear the platoon t-shirt given to each player participating in the game. We have been asked whether this means that players with combat vests/chest rigs will not be able to wear them. This is NOT the case. Please bring your normal vests/webbing/battlepacks. If your vest is of the type that only the sleeves of the t-shirt are visible, then that is not a problem. All players will be issued with Red [German] or Blue [British] armbands so IFF should not be a problem.

I'm not in a team can I still play?

Yes - absolutely! We've had a number of queries about the team name field at the bottom of the booking form. The team name section on the booking form is included to help the administration of those who are in teams. If you are an individual player or a group of friends then just leave the field blank. You will be made very welcome and your platoon commanders will ensure that you are fully integrated with the other members of the platoon and get stuck into the action.

Are any platoons sold out?
Not yet, but the Home Guard platoon is 95% full. 65/140 tickets have been sold with some platoons proving very popular. If you have a particular platoon/team preference, then please email info@invasion1940.co.uk as per above. To ensure your place by booking, please call 0808 1800 888 or download the booking form from the invasion 1940 website.

The FAQ section of the website will be updated in due course.

If you have any other questions, please email info@invasion1940.co.uk

A players pack outlining information about registration, game rules, safety rules and all other game admin details will be published shortly.

Seperate team briefing documents will be sent to British and German players by their respective team captains nearer the game date with details of operational planning and C3I information.

Any questions or comments, please give me a shout via PM or email or post here as you may well have the same question as someone else!

Well I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't played a big scenario since Bandwagon. It should be a good laugh despite my dodgy leg, I'll be the german with the 'Herr Flick' style limp, feel free to point and laugh.

Am I still allowed to play even though I don't have an Uncle Helmut? :D

Orders of Battle now Published! - 1st Draft

Sorry this has been delayed; this has been due to the volume of bookings received over the weekend.

Order of Battle for German Team

Notes:

1: An updated and more detailed Orbat with booking names will be published later in the week.

2: If you have booked in the last couple of days and aren't shown on here in person - do not worry; not everyone has been allocated to a team yet, but will be in the next couple of days. We are trying to ensure the teams are as equal as possible in order to ensure as exciting and close a day's play as possible. You will be on the list published later in the week.

3: If you have booked in and aren't happy [or I've got it wrong!] with the team you have been put on please let me know as soon as possible via info@invasion1940.co.uk It *may* be possible to move some players in the next day or so.
Once the team briefing information for each side has been issued it won't be possible to move teams else operational security will be imperilled !

Hopefully everyone should have their first choice of team where they have stated one; although I can't guarantee that everyone's preference has been passed on to me. If i've messed up, please let me know ASAP at info@invasion1940.co.uk

3: Player Limit

The Invasion 1940 website states that each platoon will consist of 25 players making 100 in total.

The site has installed a brand new safe zone for the British team along with extra facilities such as additional WCs and car parking. As a result the site's capacity has been increased and therefore bookings can still be made as we are able to accomodate more than the original 100 players scoped. [yes; there are addtional t-shirts for extraplayers ]

Players booking in this week via 0808 1800 888 are not necessarily guaranteed their first choice of team or platoon as we need to ensure the sides are balanced. The earlier a booking is made, the better the chance of receiving your first choice of team or platoon. Additional players can still be added to existing bookings and we will endeavour to ensure teams are kept together wherever possible.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at info@invasion1940.co.uk

Please accept my apologies if you've emailed me in the last few days and haven't received a response - I will reply to you as soon as I can.

look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

How many people are going to have PMR446 radios do you think?

If plenty of people have them I might just have to pop down to maplin.

Cheers!
