Inter University Paintball Tournament 19th Oct 2002

6E will be hosting the Inter-University Paintball Tournament on Saturday 19th October 2002 at Witton Castle, County Durham.

Format will be 5-man, Sup-Air Ball, Limited Paint (hopper and one pot), Series 2K2 tournament rules.

All players must hold a valid NUS card or equivalent (no ringers pls, and getting John Bonich to sign up for a knitting course at your uni the week before does not count!).

This is the day before the Series 2K2 October event so it's worth the journey if you want to play 2 days or just come and watch the second day. BBQ, bar and camping on saturday night

This is specifically designed to get the inter-uni scene kicked off with the emphasis on fun and gaining experience. So any societies that don't yet have teams, this would be a good chance to set one up.

For those teams that don't have their own equipment, gear (semi-autos on air and masks) will be available to hire on site by prior arrangement. Alternatively, contact your local site and see if they would be willing to offer support.

Further details on entry fee and deposits will be posted before the start of term.

Inte-uni marshalling

Hi Paul,

Phil & Hatts have talked about it briefly but I don't know exactly what they've sorted out. A lot depends on how many Uni's and teams enter. As far as we are aware DUPS, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Teeside and we think York (via Spud) are all up for it.

And Alex (ex-DUPS), is now at Bath so we might even see one or two teams from there.

And yes Hatts told me what a paint monster he's become. I think he's still in shock

if you want a list of alll the universities that were interested for the failed inter uni in july then email me and i'll send it up.

also have you contacted bully as he said that w he would help and take a trade stand up.

i also had spoken to powerball and phoenix about getting cheaper paint.

This tournament will be for university teams only as it is specifically to try to get paintball recognised as a sport by university athletics unions and funding bodies - see if we can get some money for all you poor students

Having said that, there's no reason why college students with NUS cards can't guest for uni teams, especially if they are actively applying or have places at that university.

The main objective this year is to get the tournament up and running so if you're interested, get in touch anyway and we'll see what we can do within the official guidelines. Anyone who wants to volunteer to help out will be greatly appreciated.

Bully is already involved with the organisation as we're using the tournament set up for the Series 2K2 event at 6E on the Sunday.

This event is going to go ahead regardless of the number of teams entered - it will not be cancelled even if Durham is the only uni to enter! It just means that they will win all the prizes Hopefully though, teams that have confirmed will actually send a deposit this time.

6E has committed to running this event and a lot of other people have already volunteered their time and resources to make this happen - it's up to you guys now... even if your uni hasn't got a team, grab some freshers first week in October and just do it!

University paintball

Does anyone know if Bournemouth University have a paintball team? I'm back there in October and was wondering if there's any chance of whooping fellow student ass! Good luck to everyone involved in organising the tournament- excellent idea.

Dunno if Bournemouth Uni has a Tourney team, but i know they had a club last year, coz we played em at Crealy Park, hopefully it still exists. I'll try and get the contacts for ya.


As for the tourney in October, i think you can count U.W.E. in, we just got our 5 man team on its feet and are just dieing to get our arses handed back to us on a plate.
