ive recently bought a impy vision and want to know if it is possible to put a dye throttle lp reg on the front and a high pressure maxflow to feed it. if so how would i chrono it , through the max i suspect but would like some advice thanks gra

yeah through the maxflow, if its a vert one its at the bottom, un screw to increase the pressure and tighten to decrease the pressure. Also on my i-frame there are 2 allen key holes on the frame which you can turn.

Dont feel like im contradicting you, ally, but, you would need to adjust the LP reg to adjust the chrono.

You would set up the HP maxflow at whatever input is best for your LP reg (usually between 600psi and 800psi), then adjust the LP reg to get the input pressure (into the impulse) to adjust its velocity.

If you do change your set up, I would also reccomend re-adjusting the reg if you are going from CO2 to Air. There are instructions in the manual (if you dont have one I think theres a .PDF copy on SP website) and its pretty simple.

Uhhh,
If the Impulse works like most every other electropneumatic, then the LP reg is in charge of the cycling pressure, and you would use your primary or inline reg to adjust velocity. Any Impulse people around to confirm this? Adjusting the LP reg wouldn't affect your velocity, just cocking pressure, if I'm not mistaken. So the inline reg, or primary reg (if you're running just out of the reg on your tank) is what you would use to adjust your chrono velocity. Again, I'm not an impulse owner or tech or anything, but since the impy is so similar to most other open bolt electropneumatics, it would make sense.

Perhaps we've just got a misunderstanding of reg names. Primary reg would be the reg on your air bottle, inline reg would be the reg between that and the marker (if there is one), and LP reg would be the reg on the front of the marker that controls the pressure going to the solenoid for recocking the marker. The inline reg, or primary reg should be what you use to adjust chrono velocity (as it is in the angel, bushmaster, etc,.).

Strangelove is correct,Gra said he wanted to put a high presure maxflow on his imp,& a low presure vert reg,(he would have to have this or he would blow his soloniod if presure above 240 i think),Gra i believe you would set FPS by adjusting presure input to marker out of the vert lpr no more than 240psi unless you have a secondary lp reg controlling presure to your solonoid, then you could increase presure & decrease dwell.you can also alter FPS by adjusting the dwell.I just find I loose consistancy will a low dwell setting mine is at 13 bleeps from bottom 140/50 input & 100 from front lpr runs sweet

Hang on, what kind of reg is the Dye Throttle? Isn't it a "grip" reg? In which case it would replace the foregrip on the impulse, and would behave in exactly the same way as any bottomline or vert reg. The only benefit of this setup would be that two regs would be slightly more consistent than one, although you'd have to make sure they have a high enough recharge rate to keep up with the impy - generally I find that a max-flo on its own is more than capable of maintaining consistency and high rates of fire.

To go into detail, the Impulse solenoid chamber is fed directly from the valve chamber, so the input pressure IS the solenoid pressure. Often it is this setup that is blamed for the infamous FSDO problems that the impulse suffers from.

If however the reg you are referring to is like a jackhammer reg (which incidentally is what Smart Parts fit to their LPR front-cap mod) you can fit it via some clever contraption to your front cap which separates the air going to the valve from the air going to the solenoid chamber. The Strange impulse has this as standard I think, but there are others - the Evil Respirator being the neatest looking in my opinion.

So there you go - when you say "fit to the front", do you mean to your front cap, or to the vert ASA in place of the foregrip?
