Impulses: hoses and gas-thru-grip.

My mate just picked up an impulse. It's currently running on CO2. There is a hose running from his reg to the top left of his fore grip, and it pisses him off coz it's in the way. Also there is a major kink in the hose which could do with being replaced.

Neither of us have much of a clue about how we could change the hose, or even better replace it with steel braiding and a gas-thru-grip setup.

Any links, suggestions or step-by-step guides (for dummies) would be much appreciated

I take it from your description the impulse has a vertical reg as a foregrip, rather than a reg slung under the grip. You could change this to a gas through foregrip, and get a reg to go under the grip.

To see this look at the picture on the planet eclipse web site, this has a gas through foregrip and grip mounted reg.

To see the other type look at the smart parts site, this has the vertical reg and asa on the grip, which should be what you have.

The hose is low pressure hose and can be bought from smart parts, planet eclipse or myself. It is well worth retaining this plastic hose system, as it gives you more versatility and eases maintenance.

After re-reading your post, it says that the reg is not on the foregrip, and the hose feeds into the foregrip on the side. Is this correct.

Yes, There is a reg on the drop-forward, with a line up to the top of the grip.

get yourself a voodoo gas thru foregrip from smart parts...

they're around £20 inc VAT,

then you need to remove the hosing from the speedfit elbow (you can buy more and replace it if you wish) simply bypinching the hosing in to the fitting, hold on to the small ring around the hose then pull the hose out,

unscrew the elbow and fit it to the new foregrip with loc-tite or PTFE tape and put it all back together

If you look at the planet eclipse website, on the picture of the impulse they are selling, you will see the foregrip that has a bottom entry (gas through grip). This should tidy it up.

I was tempted to buy the lot and then sell it on making a fair bit of money, but instead i called over a few team mates and we split it and all got a good deal. My team mate had the impy, freaks and co2 for £150. I had the bag, boots and tools for £35.

We are down again on the 15th for the 15 man event and on the 29th for a club trip. Have a word with kerry about marshaling for us on the 29th, i didn't get much of a chance to say more than hi on Sunday.

PS I'll have my Ir3 to play with then.

Question 2: Feed necks

How does the the feed neck come off the impulse, short of a hack saw? Do they unscrew or am i just being a wimp?
