i had a voodoo delrin bolt in the imp i had and it was great, no o rings to have to worry about or grease. as far as a change in velocity goes just put the delrin in , re - adjust the pressure when u chrono and then thats u.

Hi all,

My hammer rod broke at the weekend so i got the new titanium (sp?) hammer and rod put in the marker. I've also just sent the gun to smartparts to have a new board, FFV and low rise feed fitted.

The main question is this. If i fitted a delrin bolt, will there be issues with velocity due to the amount of reduced weight in the gun? If so what bolt would you suggest as an upgrade?

Thanx

There may well be velocity issues if you reduce the overall mass of your internals too far (case in point Freak Factories with delrin bolts tend to have all sorts of problems). The stock hammer is normally fine with a delrin bolt, but lightened versions seem to have problems... if you do have problems Planet Eclipse make a nice stainless steel hammer that will give you enough weight to solve it.

Kieran was talking about if you have BOTH a delrin bolt and lightweight hammer and hammer rod. I believe FF impulse has the stock hammer. You shouldn't have any problems.

Basically, if there is not enuf weight behind the gun your balls won't go very far.

Delrins seem to be very good but tempremental.

My mate bought a delrin for his imp and it reduced his velocity down to 235 and no higher (he had no other lightweight components just stock Imp) I tried his delrin in my stock Imp and found that it made no velocity difference at all?

freaky but true.

the great thing was I got a cheap delrin out of it all. :D

I use a Freak Factory Imp with a delrin bolt. The original FF hammertip is lighter as the normal Imp tip,due to having a really large ring cut out of it.It works fine with the original alloy bolt, but is too light for delrin. When I run the delrin bolt with the FF hammer tip,I had between 10-20fps differences over the chrono.Ross from SP EUROPE sent me a brass hammer tip,(free of charge, thanks Ross!), and consistency is now back to normal....uses a bit less air as well....

A heavier hammer definately makes a big difference when using a delrin bolt. It allows you to reduce your dwell setting - making your impulse more efficient = more shots from your tank!
