What size do they usually use at places? Is the £35 for a new 20oz? What is all this on/off valve business I keep reading about and anti-syphon tube?? Do I need that stuff or is it fluffy extras? Presumably I can just screw the thing on myself or it there some black art involved?

Where are you in Cheshire? 6th floor of hell sounds like it could be close :D

Philip, just done a quick search on on/off valve and it looks like it might be worth the investment - last thing I want to do is blow my o ring (whatever the bjesus one of those is??

can you get these too?

How much for a tank with on/off - and are you closer to me than Planet in Manchester?

Thanks again for all the great info...

does your price include shipping? If it does, let me know the address - email me direct and I'll get a cheque off to you...

Mate O rings are the little round seal at the top of the bottle and they're ten a penny. I've knackered more of those O rings than I care to remember over the years so don't worry about it. However, it pays to have a good supply of those and the brass burst disks in your tool kit just in case.

I can't remember if I've got this the wrong way around but I think on/off valves have a higher gas flow through than pin valves. Frankly I always found Pin valves a pain in the ass, all that leaking gas and O ring swelling/splitting <shudder>. BUt if you're running a Dragun you'll want good gas flow. It spits paint like a goodun :)

My other half was running a Black Dragun from Planet with an on/off 20oz with no problems at all. My only advice would be to get two bottles so one can be acclimatising after filling whilst you use the other one or even better if you can stretch to it look at a 2nd hand air system off the boards here or somewhere.

Air is better but more expensive, plus you'll need dive tanks if you go anywhere without air on site, OTE does have this on their walk on days so you shouldn't need them if that's the only place you play.

Planet do a new 20oz with an on/off for about £40, and you will really need two to get the best out of your marker...especially with winter coming on..winter was always a nightmare for CO2 users

Importing to the UK - an experiment!

OK, following the advice of others on this board I have decided to take a dive and order some kit from abroad and will let you know about delivery times, VAT charges, customs duty etc as and when it happens.

This is my first set of paintball equipment and like many people ordering their first batch of kit, low price was a deciding factor for me. I have just ordered the following pieces of kit...

M3 Black Dragun
JT Flex7 Thermal Goggles
Viewloader 12v Revolution Hopper

I have ordered from www.canadianpaintball.com as they were the only company that answered my email promptly. Having said that, I have just received an email from www.paintball-online.com who have quoted me $311.50 (US dollars) including 3 day shipping which would have been cheaper still - nevermind!

The company would not mark the parcel as 'warranty/replacement' as this would jepordise their import/export licence (can't really blame them!) although they assured me that all markers are labelled with the correct Llb/si ratio etc

Total price including delivery to the UK = 514.23 (Canadian Dollars) which equates to £211.20

So, fingers crossed it gets here OK and I don't get crucified with extra charges. It may end out dearer than buying in the UK but hopefully this info will be of use to anyone else thinking about importing.

Obviously if I get charged VAT (likely) it will bump it up to £248.16, plus I run the risk of import duty etc.
You will get charged tax at 20%!

Just to warn you!

Paul.
