and think they would pick up on a paintball gun only being 35 quid

Could always ask them to mark it as a faulty paintball 'marker' - which would be worth much less than a working one!

Also I've found that things sent using USPS (guessing it's coming from the USA) seem to get through customs with less charges (if any) as there's no admin charges added

i think thats cause USPS its already figured into the cost ...i used them too and found there wasnt an extra charge on it
