Hey, i was thinking about using some fibreglass on a ghetto pod - and was wondering what it's impact properties are - is there a stronger form of fibreglass? i've googled it, and it doesn't have much about paintball impact! i was just wondering if anyone else has used fibreglass in paintball before. my ghetto pod pics should be up soon - just putting the finishing touches to it :)

to get the full strength and desired shape out of fibreglass you have to us a resin and material(cloth) to give it structure and a base, then you can add fibre glass on top.

if that make any sense

yeah - i understand that - i've seen a rowing boat being made of it, and several speaker boxes, i was just wondering it's impact properties - and if it can be made in different properties by adding different materials (kinda like steel - bad example i know)

well when we make custom bits for cars we use a thin alum mess ,very flexable and easy to use

For those of us who are uninitiated...what in teh name of christ, is a "Ghetto Pod"?

Might help, if we are to help you achieve your goal.

Fibreglass is very strong...what kind of impact are we talking about....paintballs?

Whatever your up too,
Providing you don't have any vast unsuported area's of fibreglass and it's properly applied in more than i reckon 4 layers then it will withstand a paintballs impact even at zero range, but fibreglass does age and go brittle after a number of years which is why old kit cars always look so crap:eek:

sorry by the ghetto pod, i mean making a rediculously cheap pod (i know pods are cheap anyway) so i got a deoderant can, took the top off, shaved the top off and smoothed it down, and i'm going to put a ring through the lid, and fibreglass it, so it's one piece, so it can come off easier (it's light, it will store arround 50 balls, and it's ... really ghetto. i'll put some pics of it up tomorrow. anyone know where i can get a little injection resin (i guess that a form of epoxy will do?)
