our team are all layabout students, our millennium entries and all that related stuff has ben paid for by the university, this extra stuff we have to pay for, my major grief was they have said that you have to have them on a langyard (why not zip tied onto your goggles?)

I am sorry, but can't believe you really mean this! Your entryfees are being paid and you are complaining that you have to buy a lanyard for a couple of bucks?????????
Jeeeeez, if that are your worries you're not even worth of getting that kind of sponsorship. In many cases it's the other way around, teams get a free lanyard and have to pay the entryfees themselves! (at least here in Holland, don't know about the rest of the world :) )

En oh ja, Johan, very diplomatic :D

What Thade said agree with totally.

You say you can't/don't want to buy lanyards for the ID cards?

I wouldn't ziptie the ID to your goggles as you may need it to get into areas that you don't want to be wearing the headgear.

University pays entry fees!*?

Upsupball,
As much as I love this sport, I do object to my taxes being used to support 'layabout students' (your words) attending paintball tournaments that I have to pay my own way to.

So whilst I pay twice, you get off scot free!

Any sympathy I may have had for your predicament has suddenly disappeared!

What is our education system coming to??????

John:confused:

the layabout student was a figure of speech.

the team is actually sponsored by the union (UPSU charity and trading company). we have funding to play because the union trading company makes money. if it does not make money then we do not play.

as for the education system - the government want everyone to play sport as fitness is good for the country in many ways, so paintball is supported at uni. but a question to you - your kids or yourself may play sunday league football (or the like) you play on most probably public pitches which you pay for out of taxes but do you complain when you have to pay match fees?

also i beleive this thread is getting away from is intentions.

i posted about the unsecure way that the millennium committee want peoples info for id. they want credit card details sent to them via email which is very unsecure. some of my team are willing to pay the extra amount and not pre book due to the unsecurenature of the team and i also know that other people from other teams feel the same.

the lanyard comment was mainly that we have to pay e20 for our id cards and e700 for the entry but don't even get a lanyard for the id that we have to continually show. if the millennium commttee purcased enough lanyards forall the expect players with them wearing it and using them at other locations there may be even more interest in the tourney therefore giving more money into the system,
