O.k. Toulouse is old news.... Who's going to Madrid?? Also is it true it could be well over 40 degrees out there? It was far too hot in Toulouse for a skinny little Mancunion like me, so I going to have to be smart and seriously consider whether playing ball in such conditions would be a smart move, or what measures to take should I play.. Need to get all the preperations started now!! So Who's gonna be there??

the temprature in Madrid was 40 degrees this weekend.

Only a mad man will go to play in that heat! If you do go make sure your travel insurnce covers heat stroke!

'in ya face baby!'
whats the saying........."only mad dogs and Englishmen face the mid day sun!"

i hope this is not the case in Madrid cos there will be lots of problems to all who venture onto the field in 40+degrees

suffice to say i aint going no matter who is paying!!! ;)

Is there anybody playing this event??

Going off the general at the moment it seems nobody is turning up? If the temp is going to be beyond 40 degrees then to be honest without a month's preperation and a week out there prior to the event, then I think it would be suicide for me to play. Last time I saw heat like that was in Australia where I spent all day sat in a fridge!!! I aint kidding!!

Bit dissapointed about this as we were looking forward to playing all the millenium series this year!!

We are playing (would be stupid if we didn't play a Millennium in our own doorstep, wouldn't it?).

About the heat, temperatures are most probably be around the upper 30s or lower 40s in the shade. The good news is that Madrid summer is really dry so the heat is not suffocating until you start sweating. I honestly hope we don't get to the upper 40s as last year (we suffered the hottest summer in ages!).

Remember to drink much more water than usual and to put on your sun lotion and you'll be fine.

You can prepare rehydration drinks as well:

It's like:

Water
fresh pressed Lemon
fresh pressed Orange
a little honey
baking soda (to keep the water in your body)

and maybe one or 2 other ingredients and that will save you. Myself and some mates suffered from severe dehydration on a surf trip in Sri Lanka and we were really sick....(puking, diarhea, dizziness etc....) some guys there suggested this drink and after 1 or 2 days we felt alot better.

If you drink this as a prevention you shouldn't get sick. Problem with such intense heat is that no matter how much you drink you're body has trouble retaining it cause you sweat so much. The baking soda helps your body to keep the water.

And protect your head.

Norway!!

Too hot to handle!

I think the Malaga leg will have to more likeable temperatures... atleast for Scandinavians and Northern-Europeans.

In the 40'ies all you wanna do is drink beer and hide in the fridge. You don't wanna run around in black trousers and a longsleeve shirt and a helmet. :)

BTW.. I heard that Norway is great in August... 13-15 that is ;)
