As a Scot I'm offended by the vile insinuation at not all Scots are alcoholics. I personally have spent many years and a great deal of my own money to insure that I and those around me maintain a healthy level of inebriation at all times! Has my work been for nothing? Pardon my ignorance if this is infact totally racist, and I am deeply sorry for my pakistani friends but, if you know they are a pakistani, paki is not derogatory, its short hand for pakistani, it is derogetory when you infact call any guy that looks like he is from pakistan (dark asian skin) a paki.

My Pakistani friend was 100% totally acceptable of anyone calling him a paki, as he knew he was infact pakistani. I know this as he was atleast 2ce the size of me and didnt mind.

Fair enough ....my experience is the exact opposite ,pakastani friends of mine in Newcastle put 'Paki' right up there with '******' in the 'likely to get you kneecapped' list of offensive words...

Not withstanding the fact that the "tongue in cheek comments" that are being made are in direct conflict with UK law. Its not a question of "morality",rather a question of "legality" if you want to split hairs.

And if you can tell me what "debate" the comments on this thread are helping to "foster" then i'd love to debate your good self on that.

Kris - you've been debating with everyone in this thread. Hell you've even educated people. I think my point stands about debating.

On the law part - you'll have to point me to the exact law that its breaking. Im not up on the law. The first few posts about pikey's were obviously a direct parody of snatch (or was it lock stock?)

After that, well, you and bon got to talking.

You have come across as foolish and possibly hypocritical, because you say you promote being tolerant of other peoples views and then you have been completely intolerant of others views because they clash with your own. I think its admirable that you do what you're doing. Lots of people wouldn't do it.

I think the problem is, this is the internet. Your tone of voice is never heard. Alas, you've come across as sanctimonious when that was probably never your intention. I would guess you were trying to challenge what was being said and it didn't come out like that, cause it could of been a humdinger of a thread.

Im Irish, i look half caste but im not. I get called pikey, ****** etc by people close to me but i dont take offence to it cause its tongue in cheek - its not meant to cause me offence. If what was being said in this thread was meant to cause offence and stir up racial hatred/tensions, (and i expect it wasn't) then i would have a problem with what was being said. And it would of been dealt with.

Now i know your going to come back and say 'well just because it doesn't cause you offence etc etc' and thats true, but in reality, no one is being persecuted here.

I hope you'll carry on discussing stuff in here. You're obviously someone with an IQ level above a grapefruit and what you write interests me. Just dont become a martyr for your cause.

Try saying that to a pakistani that isnt your friend, see what happens mate

Okay, now a more serious post...

Some people on here need to take a serious chill pill.
There's no need to all agree with each other, that would make things rather boring. I can see why Cook$ got bent outta shape; I've met the guy and he seems to me like the sort of person that actually finds it hard to hate anybody (despite his way of talking) and who would happily throw himself off a cliff if he thought he'd get a laugh out of it.
So being accused of racism, when none was intended, was probably hurtful to him. I'll forgive him his outburst. Hell, he apologised for it himself.

Kris, you seem to have lost your cool a few times, but by and large, you kept calm and argued your points nicely.

Most of the other people, you need to check your heads. You seem to have some unsolved issues. My hand has been hovering over the ban button a number of times.

It doesn't matter who I think is right or wrong, the issue seems to have been solved. But be warned that if I see any racism on here, I will come down like the wrath of God.
