Actually

I think we are going a little of course with this, my question is not, why are US Teams better than Euro Teams, my question is, is it possible to go to the top of this sport unless you live in a central belt paintballing area?

And for the record just coming back from the States myself, 2000 paintballs in the states cost about the same as the UK, so, it's not money folks.

I was reading an article about this (in differant words ) and it comes down to this how often do we (Euro players ) train? and I'm not talking about playing games I mean training, popping out from a bunker and double tapping a beer can or having 4 guys pepper your bunker whilst you try and shoot back. Probably as often as I do which is not very often cos its expensive, now this article mentioned a few top US teams and mentioned that some of the do this 2 or 3 times a week, when it comes down to it thats the differance, being able to train properly that often, Also look at the Russian Legion their are very few teams over their at the moment and these guys are waltsing around kicking butt because the team coach ( could do with one of them;) ) videos every game with a comentary and then goes over it with the team. I could be way of the mark here but I don't think so we will catch the yanks up when we can do the same ( I used to train three times a week when I was playing rugby and for my short stint on the AMA Great Britain squad I trained 6 nights a week)

sorry Sid a bit of the track I know, Russia must be out of the central belt area and Russian Legion seem to do pretty well don't they?

The end result is if the team has financial backing they can train more and attract good players from allover it does come down to money in the end, they may not be paid to play but it sure costs them a hell of a lot less to do it.

I think we just have to believe in the abilities we have each been gifted with Sid. I reckon if alone you have the determination and will to kill and survive you can pull it off! No one can ask more from you than what you can give, that's the way it is.

In the UK we have to hold down jobs outside of the industry most of us. we can't all make week long training, over this side of the world there seems to be alot more responsibility on holding down a job, career and life. living over in Europe costs alot of money!

for paintball comes below my job and family and car, can't get to a tourney without a car, can't play without the money to back it and your family are the closest freinds you've got, don't blow them out just because you're playing is my attitude.

thats my theory, does Mr. braun have any insight into the matter?

thanks for tuning in!

There are a few other factors here worth mentioning as well, most a sort of side category pertaining to money. We have LAND! Yes, must have land to have lots of sites for farming of new players. We have advertising, which of course is directly related to money. Cheap transportation, well, dunno, it's cheap but maybe it's not as big an advantage over Europe's public transit, though most sites on both sides of the pond require a bit of driving, and prices around 1/4 of what you pay for petrol help there. We have organized youth functions with our schools and churches which introduce players into the mix. Lower taxes on businesses is a huge advantage, allowing us to have in our midst rather than yours the majority of paintball companies which started out as fledgling businesses rather than mass industry. (No one went from refridgerators or auto tires to paintball.) We have more people...yes, simply a larger population to pick from. You kept sending us your spares, some criminals and what you were labelling as heretics, but spares nonetheless, which would have ended up a few generations later playing for us, BUT YOU KICKED THEM OUT AND NOW IT'S BITING YOU IN THE ASS! NEXT TIME TREAT NEW CHURCHES BETTER AND GIVE SOMEONE A BREAK WHEN THEY OWE YOU MONEY!

Can a player from the UK make it to the top of the tree?

Yes, look at Robbo, Giles, Phil Ham, some of the Swedes playing with the ironmen and vice versa.

If you've got it and they can see it then you're sorted.

We are paying $1.15516 a litre (80 pence) 90% of our petrol bill in the UK is Tax. I don't know what price you pay a litre but it may be interesting to find out.

Back to you Onion,

For more money conversions for any curreny try here

Also to work out gallons and litres etc,

take the number of litres you have and multiply it by .264 to get US gallons.

so 1 litre of Uk petrol is 0.069696 US gallons.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm sure my question at the beginning of this thread was NOTHING to do with the price of petrol, is it possible for people to actually read the entire thread, give thier opinions and thoughts and please stick to the point....oh and petrol is cheaper in the States ;)

But thank you ROBBO for your honest assessment. Can we please have some more feedback.

how would some yokal boy go PRO?

Dont forget the size mismatch. At the end of the day if we had a country the size of america, then the total number of brits playing paintball would be similar and therefore the amount of high quality players would be similar. Just a thought

Sorry Sid, I suppose thats got to relate to the phrase "whats that got to do with the price of fish?"

any way to your question.

From what I have seen it is like Radio. Its not what you know its who you know, but with a little bit of talent thrown in.

If you hang around Pro players and know everyone in the industry then chances are you will get a break with them.

For us it is trying to improve our game within our team to get to the pro playing status.

I think Robbo mentioned the LUCK LUCK LUCK way he did it and it helped that he is quite handy at the sport too. (and the fact that he could crush you like a grape if you don't let him play for your team;) )

Keep going Sid and if you make it remember us:D
