Well dudes, its Saturday night, I'm mildly concussed from a rather nasty stream of hits to the side of the head at training and one of my players ion smegged up mega style.
Okay so here’s how the story goes... we couldn’t get it to power up at the start of the day, at first I thought the ridiculous gel button was playing up worse than usual, checked and replaced the battery but still nothing. So we attempted to open her up and sure enough the micro switch was sitting quite comfortably at the bottom of the frame. puzzled as to how we were gonna get her going we eventually decided to 'hotwire' the board by basically plonking the microswitch where its supposed to go and pressing the button. Once she was on and going we took the switch away and put the frame back together, she rolled okay for a small amount of time before she decided to call it quits. So my friend asks if I can take the marker away with me to repair (after all it’s to solder points, end of).
Well to cut a long (LONG) story short the micro switch soldered on lovely, working like a charm, the board slotted in neatly and everything went fine... that is until I went to test it, three shots in and it dies. I open her up and what im faced with is a mess. Simple as. The micro switch is gone... again now joined with the battery... and the wires attaching the battery.
Now before you say it yuuuup I checked and maintained a close watch over the wires as I slotted the board back into place which leaves me to offer only one other explanation... Ions suck. They suck so bad. They suck MORE than Terminator 3. And this my friends leaves us with a simple moral to my story;
please please... when that little voice in your mind says 'open up the ion, its only a simple repair' or when you hear 'go onnnn, you can surely install a new board cant you?', reply with that simple something resembling 'duck off', save the £20 an hour Smartparts charge and go to the pub.
Dont suppose anyone could help us fix this thing could they? Pleaseeeeee?
Thanks.
